If you ask me, what is prose like? I can't express it in words. Because of the flexibility of prose, it is ever-changing because of different authors. I can only apply one sentence: "Prose is scattered in form but not in spirit."
When reading prose, I will feel the author's thoughts and feelings with my heart. The content of prose, whether describing nature or telling life, whether talking about your own affairs or other people's affairs, is integrated with your own thoughts and emotions. Prose is an expression of the special meaning and aesthetic feeling of things, which embodies the author's personality and allows readers to see the author's experience, interest, ambition, knowledge and accomplishment. I like the content of an article, often because I have found the thoughts or feelings that make me sing.
As a person who likes writing, I focus on understanding the author's expression. I forget who said it. Among the epochal, ideological and artistic features of an article, artistry is the most widely used. The characteristics of one era and another cannot be copied, and the thoughts cannot be imitated. However, the artistic expression of the article will not be outdated and can still be applied many years later.
About form. Some people say that the surname of prose is "three", which means sloppy and flexible. This flexibility is manifested in the following aspects: under the premise of obeying the needs of content, the writing method is eclectic, and the pen is arbitrary, and it is like flowing water, natural in arts and sciences, full of pen potential. We read Zhu Ziqing's essays, Bing Xin's essays and Lu Xun's essays, all of which are carefully constructed and naturally fluent. If we study it carefully, as far as the structure is concerned, it is ever-changing, and there is no definite law in the text. Some pay attention to composition and form, and readers can easily grasp the context level, such as Zhu Ziqing's Spring. Some just describe a state of mind or emotion, which is intricately changing and is under the hidden control of subjective feelings, so it appears random in form and seems invisible in structure, such as Madame Curie's My Belief.
Lu Xun said: "The genre of prose can actually be casual." Bing Xin said, "Prose is better than yourself." Therefore, no one can give prose a formula. In literariness, the innovation of writing form is worthy of attention and support, and innovation is conducive to the development of literature. As long as an article can see the central idea and stick to the theme, it can give full play to its personality. It is difficult to compare different styles of articles, but excellent prose can't be written casually. A short essay may take only a few hours to finish, but it requires a writer to have profound literacy. Good articles are often carefully carved.
As far as brushwork is concerned, prose mostly starts from a small place and is full of poetry. In the subtleties and parts of character events, such as Zhu Ziqing's Back, he made a big fuss about his father's back, took pains to write details, and permeated his feelings in these details. Description is the starting point or support of lyricism. Some essays have no specific descriptions of people and things, but only a kind of language expression, but we feel concrete and vivid when reading them, because the author uses vivid language, such as the article "Why I was born" by the British philosopher Russell, aiming at explaining why I was born. However, there is no purely rational preaching in the full text, and almost all of them are perceptual and vivid language, which turns the concept of "one painting and one image" into a concrete image and makes philosophy vivid and more naturally integrated. There are also some essays with narrative and discussion elements. On the one hand, they describe people and things in detail, on the other hand, they express their feelings. Those flashing thoughts are the highlights of prose.
Personally, the most difficult thing in prose is the creation of artistic conception. Only when it is perfectly integrated with thoughts, concepts and emotions can a natural and beautiful prose be achieved.
It is said that writing is like a person, especially prose. Famous artists all have their own styles. Even if their works are not signed, familiar readers can see the author from the style. For example, Lu Xun's prose is profound and steep. Guo Moruo's prose is magnificent, beautiful and tangled. Lao She's prose is very humorous. Bing Xin's prose is kind, and so on. A person's writing style can't be achieved overnight, and he must gradually form his favorite style through numerous choices in long-term practice. Every writer has his own period of negation, such as Mao Dun, who once denied his early works. For example, the French poet Rambo once denied his early romantic poems and asked his friends to burn them all, try new breakthroughs again and make bold innovations and reforms.
I am not a celebrity or a writer, but I am a person with personality. My personality determines the appearance of my prose, both emotional and rational; There is a realistic side and a dreamy side. I like poetic and romantic language, and I like the philosophy of life. In my soul, spears and shields coexist and mix in a friendly way, and their conflicts are also gentle. My life experience tells me that life is for enlightenment. Everyone and everything we meet is telling us something. Only when we realize this, can we move towards the realm of openness and happiness. I like to write words with my own thoughts, but I am still a student and have no high cultural background to express artistic beauty.
I think there are different stages of writing. When I am a beginner, I have no opinion. Imitate any article that feels good, and change it immediately when others make suggestions. After a period of reading and writing practice, I naturally realized many truths in the text. At the same time, my ability to appreciate the text is getting higher and higher. I know how to choose, form my own style and have my own opinions to write. Sometimes, the pertinent opinions of others will give you some hints, which will be imperceptible until one day, you have a new understanding and consciously change yourself.
Prose writing, let it progress naturally, no matter what you are writing now, it is what you really look like now.
