After the "Cultural Revolution" suffered serious setbacks, on the basis of fully absorbing the experience and lessons of being in power for 33 years,1September 6, 982, the 12th Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) adopted the new Articles of Association of the Producers' Party of China. The pledge of joining the Party was formally written in party constitution. Chapter 1, Article 6 clearly states: "To prepare for party member, party flag must be sworn in as a Party member. The oath is as follows:' I voluntarily join the China Producers' Party, support the Party's program, abide by the Party's articles of association, fulfill the obligations of Party members, implement the Party's decisions, strictly observe the Party's discipline, keep the secrets of the Conservative Party, be loyal to the Party, work actively, and strive for * * * all my life. Party constitution, adopted at the 13th, 14th, 15th and 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, reiterated this article.

It is the first time in the history of our party that the oath of joining the Party was clearly written in party constitution, which shows that the CPC Central Committee attaches importance to the oath of joining the Party. New party constitution's pledge to join the Party came into being under the new situation that the focus of the Party's work shifted to economic construction and reform and opening up. Compared with the previous pledge of joining the Party, it comprehensively, systematically and scientifically summarizes the Party's requirements for party member and party member's political responsibilities. It has the nature of party rules and disciplines, and it is a solemn promise that every party member must face party flag when joining the Party, which is always remembered and observed by everyone. At the same time, party member's conditions for joining the Party are highly summarized from organization to ideology, which embodies the nature, goal, purpose, task and discipline of China's * * * production party and expresses party member's firm belief in the party and * * * production ideal.

The new party constitution pledge to join the Party is the inheritance and development of different versions of the previous pledge to join the Party. It continues to emphasize "supporting the Party's program", "observing the Party's articles of association", "carrying out the Party's decisions", "strictly observing the Party's discipline", "keeping the Conservative Party's secrets", "fighting for capitalism all my life", "never betraying the Party", "being loyal to the Party" and "actively working".
