Why did Whitman get more frustrated and brave?
Whitman is an American poet. In the history of American literature, his masterpiece Leaves of Grass initiated the 20th century American realistic poetry movement. From 1839, Whitman began to create literature, write some short poems and participate in local political activities. A few years later, he became the editor-in-chief of the Eagle, a well-known newspaper, and kept writing papers and short comments against the slavery and exploitation of employers. 1848, a revolution broke out in western European countries. Whitman began to publish poems in newspapers to eulogize the European revolution, and finally left the press because of political differences.

Later, Whitman returned to his father's old job as a carpenter and architect and began his vigorous poetry creation activities. 1In July, 855, the first spring thunder exploded in the history of American poetry-Whitman published Leaves of Grass. The first edition of Leaves of Grass was printed and published by Whitman himself, with only a thin 94 pages. * * * includes 12 poems that he has created for many years. This poet, who only attended primary school, began to struggle for a living when he was 13 years old. At this time, he was completely white, but only 36 years old, working as a temporary worker in a printing factory. This collection of poems embodies full democratic ideas and creates a new form of free verse.

What's more sad is that this book of poems has been published for a week, and even one book has not been sold; Whitman didn't give up. The following year, after an update, he published the second edition, and this time only sold 1 1 copy. Some British and American bourgeois critics put it in the stove, and some even called him "the most ignorant of art, just like a pig doesn't know math." What saddens him most is that even his mother and brother can't accept it. My brother threw it away after reading a few pages, while my mother dismissed it as "mud". As he later recalled, "wherever this book went, it caused a storm of anger and condemnation."

After being attacked like a storm, he vowed: "I will stick to my poetry career in a unique way and I will definitely finish it." This "unique method" is to maintain and enrich the grass leaves with lifelong energy. With the passage of time, 25 years after the first edition came out, a famous American publishing house published this collection of poems. It printed 3000 copies for the first time and was snapped up in Philadelphia in one day. 189 1 years ago, before Whitman died, Leaves of Grass had been published in its ninth edition, and the number of poems in it increased from 12 to 396. Every time the poetry anthology is reprinted, the aggressive criticism turns to the wind, and the influence of the free verse form he created is also growing.

The whole course of Leaves of Grass from the first edition to the ninth edition is ups and downs, but his spirit of getting more frustrated and brave has made all the literary masters in the world almost without exception accept the baptism of Whitman's Leaves of Grass at some point in their lives.
