Qingdao Eye Hospital Qingdao Eye Hospital is a provincial-level medical institution in Qingdao approved by Shandong Provincial Health Department, which integrates scientific research, teaching, medical treatment and blindness prevention. It belongs to Shandong Academy of Medical Sciences and is one of the two clinical hospitals under the jurisdiction of Shandong Institute of Ophthalmology. At present, the hospital is also the location of the State Key Laboratory of Ophthalmology established by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the joint unit of ophthalmology, the national drug clinical trial base, the Shandong Ophthalmology Clinical Medical Center, the key discipline of medicine and health in Shandong Province, the designated specialized hospital of medical care in Shandong Province, the designated institution of new rural cooperative medical care in Shandong Province, the outstanding innovation team in Qingdao, the key laboratory of prevention and treatment of blinding eye diseases in Qingdao and the Red Cross Eye Bank in Qingdao. The principal is Professor Xie Lixin, an academician of China Academy of Engineering, a senior expert in contact with the Central Committee and the winner of the highest prize in science and technology in Shandong Province.

The hospital opened beds 180, with assets of 500 million yuan. During the twenty years' development, a team of professional and technical personnel, such as Taishan scholars as leading experts, provincial medical leading talents, top-notch professional and technical talents from provinces and cities as the backbone, experts who have returned from overseas study, doctors and masters in ophthalmology, has been formed, and six of them are the chairman of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association. The hospital has specialties such as corneal diseases, cataracts, fundus diseases, glaucoma, corneal refraction, strabismus, orbital diseases, eye plastic surgery, optometry and optical centers. It is at the international leading level in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious corneal diseases, complex corneal transplantation and congenital cataract in children, and has reached the domestic advanced level in individualized cataract surgery, age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, complex eye trauma, myopia corneal refractive surgery, anti-glaucoma surgery and strabismus correction. In 2000, more than 20,000 ophthalmic patients 1.2 million were treated at home and abroad, and more than 10,000 cases were operated1.0.

In the past five years, our institute has successively won 25 provincial and ministerial-level projects, such as the national "863" major project, the "973" sub-project and previous projects, and the national key science and technology projects. Won the highest provincial science and technology award 1 and the first provincial science and technology progress award; Nearly 300 academic papers were published, and 64 papers were included in SCI.
