Production and purification of monomers
The basic raw material of synthetic rubber is monomer, and the commonly used refining methods are rectification, washing and drying.
Polymerization process
Polymerization is a process in which monomers are polymerized to produce polymers under the action of initiators and catalysts. Sometimes one polymerization device is used, and sometimes several are used in series. The polymerization process of synthetic rubber mainly adopts emulsion polymerization and solution polymerization. At present, styrene-butadiene rubber, isoprene rubber and butyl rubber are used for emulsion polymerization.
reprocess
Post-treatment is the process of removing unreacted monomers from polymerized materials (latex or glue solution), coagulation, dehydration, drying and packaging, and finally making finished rubber. In the coagulation process of emulsion polymerization, electrolyte or polymer coagulant is mainly added to destroy the emulsion and precipitate colloidal particles. The condensation process of solution polymerization is mainly hot water condensation. The colloidal particles precipitated after coagulation contain a lot of water and need to be dehydrated and dried.
