Minzu University of China is a comprehensive university under the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Project". The Dance Academy of Minzu University of China is the national key discipline base of minority art and the cradle of national dancers in China. While cultivating national dance senior professionals with characteristics, high comprehensive quality and strong practical and theoretical research ability, the college also shoulders the heavy responsibility of inheriting, developing and carrying forward China's minority dance culture. After more than 50 years' development, the College has become the center of China minority dance art, which integrates education, performance and creative research of minority dance.

The Dance Science and Technology Department of Minzu University of China was established in 1957. After more than 50 years of running a school, it has formed a multi-level academic education including undergraduate, master and doctor, and a multi-professional education pattern including dance performance, education, director, history theory and dance piano accompaniment. At the same time, it has a Master of Arts (MFA) degree authorization point. Over the past decades, the college has trained thousands of excellent folk dance choreographers, educators, actors and managers. They are active in art colleges, performing groups and relevant government departments all over the country, and many of them have become experts, scholars and outstanding figures in various fields. At present, the Dance Academy has more than 500 undergraduate, master and doctoral students.

Dance Academy has multi-ethnic, powerful and rich teaching experience, combining the old with the young. Among the teachers, there are 18 people with senior titles and 33 people with intermediate titles, including many famous dance educators, choreographers and national performance artists who are well-known at home and abroad. They give the Dance Academy the absolute advantage as a high-level national dance education. In order to cultivate innovative, research-oriented and compound folk dance talents, the college has established four curriculum systems: basic skills course, folk dance course, basic theory course and art practice course, which complement each other and basically form a practical practice system combining classroom learning with social practice. The teaching of national folk dance is the characteristic of the Dance Academy, which is in the leading position in China in terms of classroom teaching, repertoire creation and stage performance.

Over the past decades, the Academy of Dance has made great achievements in scientific research: it has published a series of national dance teaching materials 14, and nearly 100 national dance teaching plays; He has published academic monographs and hundreds of academic papers, and won more than 80 teaching and research awards/kloc-0.
