The Department of Critical Care Medicine (ICU) of Clinical Medical College of Guizhou Medical University was established in July 1994, which is the earliest ICU in the province. In 2008, ICU was rated as a key discipline in the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University. Many clinical treatment measures, such as circulatory support, respiratory support, liver and kidney support and immune regulation, have been implemented, and various non-invasive and invasive monitoring technologies have been developed, including hemodynamic monitoring, respiratory mechanics monitoring and brain function monitoring. The strength of ICU in our hospital has been at the leading level in the province since its establishment, which has obviously improved the success rate of rescuing critically ill patients, reduced the mortality rate and achieved remarkable social and economic benefits. At the same time, it has accumulated rich clinical experience and teaching experience, three basic training and continuing education experiences, a set of standardized management system and standardized training plan for residents.
