Judge whether a man is right or wrong about himself and analyze the reasons.
The philosophical connotation of "every man for himself, the devil takes the hindmost" is that everything (including man) takes "self" as the value center, which is the premise and foundation for the formation and development of all social orders; On the contrary, if everything does not adhere to the "self" as the value center, then all social order will cease to exist. We should dialectically understand this philosophical proposition with simple form and profound connotation, and explore its internal value mechanism, instead of simply judging by "yes" or "no" mechanically. First, "for me" is the internal motive force for the survival and development of all subjects. Research shows that all actions of human subjects are to maximize their own orderly scale, that is to say, the internal motivation of all actions of human subjects is "for me". If the subject loses the intrinsic motivation of "for me", then any subject will inevitably perish spontaneously, and it must be "the devil takes the hindmost". Value engineering puts forward a basic idea: any engineering system hopes to get the maximum benefit at the lowest cost. In fact, the economic, political and cultural system of any society also hopes to achieve the maximum functional effect at the least cost. Therefore, extending this basic concept to all fields of human society has formed a broad sociological concept: any system or subject will pursue the maximization of its own sustainable value rate (or the maximization of sustainable interests). It is particularly important to emphasize here that "benefit maximization" has the following connotations: it is a long-term significance rather than an immediate significance; It is the whole meaning rather than the local meaning; It has social significance rather than individual significance; It is a comprehensive value level meaning rather than a single value level meaning; It is objective rather than subjective; It is comprehensive rather than one-sided; It is dialectical rather than metaphysical. It is not difficult to find that "every man for himself, the devil takes the hindmost" is actually the most popular, vivid and intuitive expression of the basic principle of "pursuing maximum benefits" for human subjects. Second, "for him" is just an extension of "for me". Many people think that "egoism" and "altruism", "for me" and "for him" are absolutely opposite. In fact, human society is an interconnected and interactive organic whole. Due to the social division of labor, various economic, political and cultural relations have been established between people, and people will inevitably form a certain degree of value correlation or interest correlation. In other words, once a person's value relationship changes, it will inevitably lead to some changes in the value relationship of others, which may be positive or negative. When the value correlation between oneself and others is positive, the value growth of others will indirectly lead to their own value growth, so people often help others intentionally or unintentionally to achieve the purpose of indirectly helping themselves, which is the internal mechanism of human's extensive "altruistic" behavior. In a word, "egoism" and "altruism", "for me" and "for him" can interact and promote each other. "For him" is a special "for me", an indirect "for me" and a deeper, more stable and lasting "for me". Obviously, the higher the interest correlation between people, the stronger the value equivalence between "for me" and "for him". At this time, people will show more "for him" behavior. For example, because there is usually a high interest relationship between mother and child, husband and wife, they will inevitably show a lot of "for him" behavior. Under special circumstances, people sometimes completely deny themselves for altruism, which leads to the complete loss of self-worth (that is, sacrifice). This is the extreme state or limit state of altruism, which is usually triggered by "thinking inertia", "belief concept" or "ethical rules". Even so, from a broader, deeper and longer-term perspective, this extreme state and limit state. People's value needs can be divided into four basic levels: food and clothing, safety and health, respect and self-esteem, self-development and self-realization. The higher the level of value demand, the stronger its enjoyment and compatibility, the greater the interest relationship with others when people consume these values, and the more altruistic behaviors they will show. Obviously, in a society with closely related interests, only when people show enough altruistic behavior can they win the respect and love of others, and their labor ability, labor achievements and legitimate rights and interests can be more and better recognized by others, and they can get sincere help from others whenever they encounter difficulties and setbacks. In this way, altruistic behavior can make oneself in a larger scope, in a longer period of time, with greater probability. Due to a large number of social division of labor, the interest correlation within human society is much higher than that of lower animals, so the "altruistic" behavior of human society is far more than that of lower animals. Moreover, with the further development of social productive forces, the breadth and depth of social division of labor will further increase, the interest correlation between people will further improve, and the "altruistic" behavior of society will further develop. Third, why can't society respect the philosophical proposition that "every man for himself, the devil takes the hindmost"? Although many people recognize it in their hearts, why is it excluded from social morality in almost all societies? This is mainly because people who believe in "every man for himself and the devil takes the hindmost" often have the following deviations in value understanding, thus misleading people to ignore the implementation of many altruistic behaviors that are beneficial to society: they attach importance to deterministic value and ignore probabilistic value; Attach importance to direct value and ignore indirect value; Pay attention to explicit value and ignore implicit value; Pay attention to immediate value and ignore long-term value; Pay attention to local value, but ignore the overall value; Attach importance to material value and ignore spiritual value; Attach importance to concrete value and ignore abstract value. Under normal circumstances, the value return generated by selfish behavior is often more certain, direct, dominant, immediate, local, material and concrete, which is easily recognized by people; The value returns generated by altruistic behavior are often more probabilistic, indirect, hidden, long-term, holistic, spiritual and abstract, which is difficult to be recognized by people. It takes some time, some opportunities, some environmental conditions, some knowledge (that is, IQ) and some eyesight (that is, EQ) to fully understand, which will reduce altruism to varying degrees. Therefore, under the condition of backward social productive forces, among the groups with low knowledge level and low moral level, if we advocate the social concept of "every man for himself, and the devil takes the hindmost", it will seriously affect the implementation of "altruism" behavior, worsen the social relations between people, reduce the interest relationship between people, weaken social cohesion, and ultimately will inevitably harm the vital interests of all people.
