What is ethylene gas?
The electronic form of ethylene is C2H4. It is a compound consisting of two carbon atoms and four hydrogen atoms. In general, ethylene is a colorless and slightly odorous gas with a density of1.65,438+0.78g/L, which is slightly lower than that of air. Insoluble in water, soluble in organic solvents such as carbon tetrachloride. Appearance and properties are colorless gas with peculiar smell of hydrocarbons. A small amount of ethylene has a faint sweetness.

Knowledge about ethylene in life

It exists in some tissues and organs of plants and is transformed from methionine under the condition of sufficient oxygen supply. It is the basic chemical raw material of synthetic fiber, synthetic rubber, synthetic plastic polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and synthetic ethanol, and is also used to manufacture vinyl chloride, styrene, ethylene oxide, acetic acid and acetaldehyde.

Ethylene is one of the largest chemical products in the world, and ethylene industry is the core of petrochemical industry. Ethylene products account for more than 75% of petrochemical products and occupy an important position in the national economy. Internationally, ethylene production has been regarded as one of the important indicators to measure a country's petrochemical development level.
