First, what are values?
(A) Values
Values refer to a person's overall evaluation and view of the significance and importance of the surrounding objective things (including people, things and things). On the one hand, it shows value orientation and pursuit, and condenses into a certain value goal; On the other hand, it is manifested as a measure and criterion of value, and it has become an evaluation standard for people to judge whether something of value has value. Once personal values are established, they are relatively stable. But as far as society and group are concerned, the values of society or group are constantly changing because of the changes of people and environment. Traditional values will be constantly challenged by new values. The order of views and evaluations on various things in the mind constitutes a value system. Values and value system are the psychological basis that determines people's behavior.
(B) the characteristics of values
Values are relatively stable and lasting. Under certain time, place and conditions, people's values are always relatively stable and lasting. For example, there is always a view and evaluation of the quality of something, and this view will not change under the same conditions. However, with the change of people's economic status and outlook on life and world, this kind of values will also change. In other words, values are also changing.
Values, outlook on life and world outlook are the basic components of philosophy, and they are interdependent and influence each other. In a natural or spontaneous state, the outlook on life and world plays a decisive role in the formation of values, and the values cultivated through conscious learning and cultivation can also be alienated and changed.
A person's values are gradually formed from birth under the influence of family and society. A person's social production mode and economic status have a decisive influence on the formation of his values. Of course, the opinions promoted by newspapers, TV and radio, as well as the opinions and behaviors of parents, teachers, friends and public celebrities, also have obvious influence on a person's values.
Values are divided into universal values and specific values. People's pursuit of truth, goodness and beauty is a universal value. The overall evaluation and view of the significance and importance of the surrounding objective things (including people, things and things) is the specific values.
(C) the role of values
1. Values play a guiding role in motivation. The motivation of people's behavior is dominated and restricted by values, which have an important influence on the motivation model. Under the same objective conditions, people with different values have different motivation patterns and different behaviors. The purpose and direction of motivation are dominated by values. Only what is considered desirable after value judgment can be transformed into behavioral motivation and guide people's behavior with this as the goal.
2. Values reflect people's cognition and needs. Values are people's evaluation and view of the objective world and the result of their behavior. Therefore, it reflects people's outlook on life and values to a certain extent, and reflects people's subjective cognition of the world.
(D) the level of values
Any form of value is ultimately to serve and meet the needs of human survival and development. Values are people's understanding of the value characteristics (especially the value rate of things). The ultimate goal of values is to effectively allocate value resources according to the needs of the subject's survival and development. Therefore, the level of value fundamentally determines the level of value. The unified theory of value holds that all forms of value (means of production, means of subsistence and labor value) can be attributed to the use value of means of subsistence, which can be divided into four basic levels: food and clothing, health and safety, self-esteem and respect for people, self-development and self-realization, so all forms of value can be divided into four basic levels accordingly. It can be seen that values are also divided into four basic levels: food and clothing, health and safety, self-esteem and human respect, self-development and self-realization.
A measure of a person's self-cultivation and moral integrity mainly depends on his values at different levels. If a person has high value for things that reflect the level of temperature, health and safety, and this value is relatively stable and clear, but the value for things that reflect self-esteem and respect for people, self-development and self-realization is relatively low, and this value is relatively turbulent and vague, then his cultivation is poor and his moral character is low.
Second, the influence of values on students' study and life.
(A) the impact of values on students' learning
Students' values have a very important influence on their study. When a person sets up positive and enthusiastic values, his learning will change from passive to active, and he is willing to bear the pressure in learning and actively deal with various problems in learning. At the same time, he will take the initiative to help students with learning difficulties, share his experience with his classmates, guide and infect people around him, and contribute to creating a good learning and education atmosphere. On the other hand, if students' values are improperly guided or even distorted, they will have resistance and rebellion, showing a state of uncoordinated and unenthusiastic learning. This state will not only affect his personal learning activities, but also affect students subtly. Some students are immature, blindly follow the trend, have no opinions, and are easily influenced by unhealthy trends, which is not conducive to the collective progress of the whole army.
(B) the impact of values on students' lives
Positive and good values will show their effectiveness in the details of students' lives. Students with positive values are often helpful, passionate and full of fun in life. Although the training conditions are difficult and the closed life is monotonous, they can actively adjust their mentality, actively face all kinds of setbacks and disappointments in their life stages, and even turn pessimism into optimism, self-encouragement, self-encouragement, strict demands on themselves, strive to grow up in military life and prepare for the future life path.
Positive values are the assets of military management. When it gradually forms an atmosphere, the management of the army will inevitably reduce a lot of workload, and everyone will take the initiative to attack, be strict with themselves and help each other, and life will be colorful.
(C) the impact of values on students' mental health
Values are a concept of human spirit, which directly affects people's way of thinking, thus having a strong impact on people's mental health. Students with incorrect values are prone to psychological distortion, give up on themselves in the face of difficulties, fail to make progress, and even have strong resistance and rebellious psychology, causing harm to classmates and superiors around them. Students with correct values always stand on the side of justice and face the proposition of life with a normal heart and initiative. Their psychological endurance is often greater than that of students with incorrect values, and they can gain more energy to solve problems and help others.
Third, the confusion of contemporary college students' values.
