History and Culture of Sanzu Temple
During the Spring and Autumn Period, Sanzu Temple was once the fief of Doctor Wanbo. Within the fief, the mountains are called Wanshan and the water is called Wanshui, which is why Anhui Province is called Anhui for short. In the fifth year of Yuanfeng in the Western Han Dynasty (BC 106), Emperor Liu Che made a southern tour, set up an altar to worship heaven at the Shandong side platform of Fengxiang, and named Tianzhu Mountain "Nanyue". Later, Xuan Di, Emperor Shundi of Han Dynasty, Liu Jun, Emperor Xiaowu of Southern Song Dynasty, Emperor Chengzu of Ming Dynasty and Judy all sent messengers to worship Tianzhu Mountain in Nanyue.

Sanzu Temple has also attracted dignitaries and poets of past dynasties with its historical glory. During the Northern Song Dynasty, poets such as Lin Bu, Wang Anshi, Su Dongpo, Huang Tingjian, Li and Lu Zai visited the temple alone. As for Li Ao, Li Xiude and Lu Wei in the Tang Dynasty, Li Shizhong, Zhou Bangyan, Xu Fu and Fan Chengda in the Song Dynasty, and Liu Ji in the Ming Dynasty, although they did not leave poems directly reciting Sanzu Temple, they left authentic works on Liu Quan Cliff in the valley. In 505 AD, Liang Wudi monk Bao Zhi and alchemist Bai He traveled to the south of the Yangtze River and invited Liang Wudi to give him the Phoenix Mountain and build a temple to give lectures. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty knew that they all had high magic skills, so he ordered them to be well informed and have a good memory, and live at home with the winners. Monk Baozhi is a high-ranking monk of Daolin Temple in Jiankang (now Nanjing), holding a piece of Zhang Xi, remembering Zhang Xi's outstanding place. Road flyover crane holds the dust in his hand and remembers where the crane stopped. Say that finish, road flyover crane threw the dust in his hand into the air and suddenly became a crane. When Baozhi saw this scene, she threw her Zhang Xi into the air and immediately turned into a silver dragon, following the crane. The crane flew to the phoenix-shaped mountain and was about to fold its wings and land. Suddenly, it saw a dragon flying behind it. It turned around in fear and flew east. It landed in Egret Harbor, and Baozhi put away all the things, and a clear spring gushed out from Zhuotu. This is Zhuoxiquan, also known as "Zhuoxijing", located behind the temple. Baozhi built a temple in Phoenix Mountain, which was named "Valley Temple" by Liang Wudi. Road flyover Baihe built Baihe Temple on Bailu Port, and Song Huizong named it "Zhenyuan Wanshou Palace".

Zhuo Xijing and Baihequan still exist. The former is located in Tianzhu Mountain Nursing Home diagonally opposite Tongyuanmen in Sanzu Temple, and the latter is located in the former site of Xiazhenyuan Palace in Baihegang, east of Sanzu Temple, both of which are famous scenic spots in Tianzhu Mountain.

Three ancestors stationed in tin

At the turn of Qi and Liang Dynasties in the Southern Dynasties, Master Dharma crossed the Indian Ocean to bring Zen to China, and was known as the ancestor of Zen in China. Dharma and Liang Wudi hit it off and broke up in discord, so they crossed the river and came to the face of Wurushi Cave in Shaoshi Mountain in the Northern Wei Dynasty for 9 years. They meditate and wait for an opportunity to preach Buddhism. Later, when Hui Ke sincerely sought the Dharma and broke his arm, Dharma spread the Zen method and mantle of "teaching others, not writing articles", so Hui Ke was honored as the second ancestor of Zen.

Monks can ask the second ancestor Huike for a Buddhist allusion. Hui Ke said, "Tell me your sin and I will repent for you." The newcomer pondered for a moment and said, "I still can't tell where my sin is?" Hui Ke said, "I have repented for you. You'd better convert to Buddhism and become a monk. " The layman said, "When I met a monk today, I knew I was a monk, but I didn't know what Buddhism was." Hui Ke said, "What do you know?" The layman said understandably, "Today I know that human sin is not inside, outside or in the middle, but in my heart, so is Buddhism." Hui Ke was very happy after hearing this. He said happily, "This is my baby. I should be named a monk."

Monks and nuns were ordained in March this year 18. After the Northern Zhou Dynasty, Emperor Yuwen Yong of the Northern Zhou Dynasty destroyed the Buddha, and Monk Can lived in seclusion with his second ancestor. He traveled between Sikong Mountain and Tianzhu Mountain for 65,438+05 years, and then took over the mantle, the third ancestor of Zen Buddhism. In the 10th year of Emperor Yangdi's reign (590), monks were able to officially enter Xishangu Temple and publicly preach Zen.

Creative Zen

There are several obvious manifestations of the transformation and development of Zen by the remnant monks in Chinese. First of all, we should change our position from dignitaries to the lower class. When Buddhism first entered China, many believers were nobles. Monks changed their general plan of preaching Buddhism by the upper class and became followers of the villagers. Second, change the temple built on the city wall into a missionary field in the mountains; Third, change the impermanent "monk's trip" into an open dharma preaching method; Fourth, change "not writing" into preaching. At the beginning of Zen Buddhism, there was a saying of "no writing", which advocated sitting still and gradually realizing. While publicly preaching Buddhism, monks can carefully write the Inscription of Confidence in poetic style, 146 sentences, four words and 584 words. From the combination of history and reality, the combination of founders and believers, and the combination of doctrine and practice, monks can clarify the meaning and truth, broaden their horizons and guide them according to the situation. Some scholars call Xin Ming Xin the first classic of Zen, and it is also called the Buddhist classic with the most China characteristics together with Six Ancestors Tanjing, which creates a theoretical precedent for Zen to sum up practical experience in words.

As a branch of Buddhism, Zen Buddhism spread from the west of Dharma to the east, with the second ancestor seeking dharma by breaking his arm, reaching the third ancestor's monk's stem, reaching China and spreading all over the world, becoming one of the most China-featured sects in Han Buddhism. Zhang Tongzhi in Song Dynasty: fly to Liang Chao Temple in Xi and pass by Tashan of Yi nationality; There are ancient trees in the stone niche and green cows in the valley. The wind rises in the middle of the night and the water flows all the year round; Who was the first person to enter the Zen Forest? This place is the crown of Zhou Nan.
