On the causal relationship between sleep and health
People spend about one-third of their lives sleeping. Sleep enables the body to have a rest and recover its physical strength, which is especially important for the growth of children, because "growth hormone" is secreted most in the middle of the night when you sleep soundly. In addition, sleep can also improve human immune function, reproductive function, improve mental state and enhance memory. Shakespeare said, "The first good meal in life is sleeping".

From the perspective of Chinese medicine, sleep is equivalent to "nourishing yin". Traditional Chinese medicine theory has yin-yang and five elements theory. "Yin" refers to the material basis, such as blood and body fluids, and "Yang" refers to the functions of multiple organs. Balance between yin and yang brings health. If yin deficiency and yang hyperactivity occur, diseases will occur, such as hyperthyroidism, manifested as palpitation, shortness of breath, hyperhidrosis, hand trembling, furuncle, overeating, weight loss, menstrual disorder, insomnia and dreaminess, exophthalmos, and severe cases can develop into hyperthyroidism heart disease, corneal ulcer and other complications.

With the increasing pace of modern life, the pressure of social competition makes 27% people in the world suffer from different degrees of sleep disorders. According to the statistics of the National Health Organization, the incidence of insomnia among adults in China is 38.2%, which is higher than that in developed countries abroad. Because most people lack scientific understanding of sleep disorder, they often blame insomnia on social competition pressure, interpersonal contradiction and psychological stress, instead of treating it as a disease. Sleep disorder causes social function and mental problems, and even for a long time, it will cause dysfunction of human organs, such as digestive system, cardiovascular system and immune system. Insomnia has become a serious social problem. Poor sleep will not only increase people's chances of suffering from diseases such as hypertension, stroke and diabetes, but also traffic accidents caused by fatigue driving are on the rise in recent years.

If people lose sleep, their behavior will change, so sleep is very important to human life function. Long-term insomnia can lead to: 1, decreased immunity and decreased resistance to various diseases. 2, memory decline, affecting work and study. 3, cause autonomic nervous dysfunction and Alzheimer's disease. 4. Severe cases can also cause endocrine disorders, depression and anxiety, and listlessness.

Long-term insomnia is a "invisible killer" that seriously harms human health, and it is urgent to treat it as soon as possible!

As the saying goes, "sleep well every day and you will never get old." This is because during sleep, various nerve reflex activities of nervous system, circulatory system, endocrine system, digestive system and muscles have changed obviously compared with those during daytime sleep. For example, adrenocortical hormone is almost not secreted during sleep, but increased during the day, showing a trend of "high during the day and low at night"; Growth hormone, prolactin, etc. It increases during sleep and hardly secretes during the day, showing a trend of "low day and high night".

The human hypothalamus has a "biological clock" that determines the length of sleep. Generally speaking, babies sleep 16 hours a day, and 3-year-old children sleep 12 hours a day, at least not less than 10 hours. After the age of 30, the time to sleep begins to decrease. The older you get, the more times you wake up at night.

Some people think that you must sleep for 8 hours every night. In fact, the amount of sleep time varies from person to person. Some people need to sleep for 8-9 hours to be energetic, while others only need to sleep for 5-6 hours. It is said that Premier Zhou Enlai was busy before his death, and it was enough to sleep no more than 4-5 hours a day, as were Eddie and Churchill, while German poets sometimes slept for 24 hours in a row. It can be seen that as long as it is suitable for personal physique and habits, short sleep time does not mean abnormal. It should be pointed out that a nap can replace sleep. It is found that taking a nap in 1 day is about 10 times (about 100 minutes), which can replace 7-8 hours of continuous sleep at night. Others say don't eat or drink before going to bed, which is not entirely correct. According to experiments, some people can sleep soundly by drinking a small amount of milk before going to bed. Some people even suggested that if you sleep less for a few hours, you have to make up for a few hours the next day to regain your energy, which is also unfounded. Some people haven't slept for several days in a row. It's unscientific that they can make up for the lack of sleep for several days just by sleeping for one night.

Only proper sleep can ensure health!

First of all, we should follow the running law of the biological clock and don't disturb it at will. For example, when to sleep and when to get up, you should have fixed habits and don't change them easily. Generally speaking, the ideal time for sleeping is from 9: 00 pm to 2: 00 am. This is because people sleep for one period every two hours. The first period of sleep is the heaviest, the second period of sleep is shallow, and the third and fourth periods of sleep are shallow. The four-hour sleep in the first two periods accounts for 75% of the total sleep. For the elderly, it is better to sleep more than middle-aged and mature people. This is because the elderly are prone to fatigue, and it takes a long time to eliminate fatigue. It is best for people over 70 to get enough sleep for 8-9 hours every day, and for people over 90, it is best to get enough sleep every day 10~ 1 1 hour. At the same time, take a nap for 0.5~ 1 hour every day.

Secondly, pay attention to the posture and direction of sleeping. It is best to bend your legs to the right, and the direction is best to keep the human body parallel to the magnetic lines of the earth's magnetic field, that is, the north-south direction.

Thirdly, pay attention to the sleeping environment, besides being quiet, there should be air circulation. Get into the good habit of sleeping with the window open, so that the air circulates, which is good for sleeping, but be careful not to let the wind blow directly on your body, especially your head. You can open the side window and pay attention to cover the quilt.

Also, be careful not to take sleeping pills easily and drink a small cup of hot milk before going to bed, because milk contains tryptophan, which has a mild hypnotic effect.

About taking a nap, it is also very important. A nap can produce magical power. Take a nap and feel good all day. As early as ancient times, our ancestors would take a nap to avoid the afternoon heat and keep their strength. This is a nap.

As society becomes more and more industrialized, it becomes more and more impossible to take a nap. The concept that "time is money" makes people dare not stay for a moment. Capitalists in Japan let workers work nonstop and even have no time to urinate, resulting in many "karoshi deaths", frequent industrial accidents and an increase in defective products.

Many celebrities in history have the habit of taking a nap: Einstein believes that taking a nap every day helps to refresh the mind and make the thinking clearer and more creative; Napoleon developed the habit of taking a nap to replenish his energy because of long-term insomnia; Several American presidents-Kennedy, Reagan and Clinton-also have the habit of taking a nap.

Some primary schools also have regulations on taking a nap. Some people think that children should get up early in the morning, go to school and do their homework at night. After such a long time of activity, they can supplement their physical strength by taking a nap. However, some people think that some children are particularly energetic, and if they don't want to take a nap, they don't need to be particularly reluctant.
