In recent years, with the release of Tibetan films, the "New Wave of Tibet" has sprung up in the environment of literary films, and Tibetan directors represented by Pema Tseden have begun to be seen by more and more audiences.

Some film critics think Balloon is the best film ever made in Pema Tseden. Compared with the obscurity of a large number of literary and artistic works, the popular and fluent narrative of Balloon is not difficult for non-art cinema lovers to understand the story.
