Anjiang County is located in the foothills of Xuefeng Mountain in western Hunan, which is remote and backward. It is in this difficult environment that Yuan Longping published the famous paper "Male Sterility in Rice" in Science Bulletin of 1966 through continuous exploration and research, which is an epoch-making research paper on hybrid rice. It is proved that the theoretical assumption of cultivating hybrid rice is scientific and feasible.
