How to preserve fresh chestnut
1, harvest in time

The maturity of chestnut varies with the origin and variety, and it is generally appropriate to harvest it when it is fully mature. In addition, pay attention to the weather when harvesting, and don't harvest the dew in Chu Qing on rainy days or after rain. Premature harvest or one-time harvest of chestnut buds will not only affect the improvement of single grain weight and quality of chestnut, but also be intolerant of storage.

Step 2 choose fruit

Selecting chestnut with 10% salt solution to eliminate diseases, insects, chestnuts and immature hollow and shriveled chestnuts is beneficial to the storage and preservation of chestnuts.

The newly harvested chestnut fruit should not be stored immediately, but should be spread in a cool and ventilated place to dissipate the heat of breathing and lose some water, commonly known as "sweating", and the fruit treated by "sweating" can be stored.

Several daily preservation methods of chestnut

1. Sandy soil preservation

The best and simplest way to keep fresh is to keep fresh with natural sand, that is, to find an open space to dig out some sand and bury fresh chestnuts in the sand, which can keep fresh for a long time. If it is inconvenient to dig, you can take the dry and wet sand back to the container and bury it. This method is more suitable for mass storage of chestnut.

After the harvested chestnuts were aired 1 ~ 2 days, they were buried deep in sand, compacted tightly and airtight. This method can be preserved for 2 ~ 3 months.

2. Plastic bags are stored indoors at room temperature.

Soak sweaty chestnut in 500 times solution of 70% thiophanate methyl for 5 minutes, take it out and dry it, put it into a plastic bag with holes on both sides and a diameter of/kloc-50 cm× 60 cm, and put it in a well-ventilated room without pressing.

This method emphasizes plastic bags instead of cloth bags. This method can store chestnut for more than 1 month. The chestnut treated by this method is sweet and crisp, and it has a special flavor when eaten raw.

Air dry in a cloth bag

Spread the fresh chestnuts out in a container, dry them in a cool and ventilated place for 2 ~ 3 days, and then put them into a cloth bag, which is breathable. Never use plastic bags.

Hanging in a cool and ventilated place, shaking 1 ~ 2 times a day. This method can generally preserve chestnuts for 4 months.

4. Refrigerator storage

Take half a basin of cold boiled water, add 1 tsp salt, then soak chestnut in it for 3 ~ 5 minutes for simple sterilization. Rinse one with cold boiled water without salt after soaking, and put it in a container to dry 1 ~ 2 days.

When chestnuts make a dry sound when shaking, they can be packed in plastic bags, tied tightly and stored in the freezer.

However, chestnut is a stubborn seed and cannot be stored at low temperature below 0℃, so the suitable temperature for cold storage is usually 1-4℃.

5. Fresh-keeping storage of cattail

Put chestnuts in a bamboo basket and pile them in a cool room. The early stage is beneficial to the water retention and nutrient accumulation of chestnut fruit, which plays a certain role in preservation. (about 40 days)

6. Tantan storage method

Put the chestnut fruit in a dry and clean jar or narrow jar (never use an jar or jar full of wine). When it is 80% full, put straw in the jar (jar), and then put the jar (jar) upside down on the board or dry ground.

This storage method is suitable for a small amount of chestnuts and can keep fresh until the Spring Festival.

7. Dry storage or hanging storage method

Boil chestnut fruit in boiling water for 5 minutes or soak it in clean water for 2-3 days, take it out and dry it, and then put it in a ventilated container (basket, mesh bag or perforated plastic bag) to dry it.

This method can be preserved for a long time, but the disadvantage is that the storage time is too long and the chestnut loses more water, which is not as delicious as fresh chestnut.
