College students have always been pioneers of the progress of the times and leaders of social fashion, shouldering the heavy responsibility of history and the trust of the people. The present situation of social morality will affect the moral status of college students, and then affect the moral norms and social psychology of the whole society. The following is what I collected for you. Welcome to read the reference!
Investigation and Analysis of Contemporary College Students' Moral Quality
Based on the first-hand data obtained from the investigation of college students in eight universities in Guilin, this paper analyzes the moral quality of contemporary college students, and holds that contemporary college students have generally formed their own unique moral values, and the overall moral quality is healthy and upward, but there are also problems such as utilitarian orientation of political views, utilitarian cognition of social morality, vulgarization of personal moral cognition, and inconsistency between morality and behavior.
Keywords college students; Moral quality; utilitarian
As one of the theme groups in the future society, the moral status of college students will directly affect the overall quality of the Chinese nation and the process of building a harmonious society. With the development of the times, the group of college students continues to expand, and the changes in the environment and conditions such as life, study, development and employment will inevitably affect the ideological concepts and moral qualities of college students. The CPC Central Committee is very concerned about this and put forward relevant requirements. This survey hopes to paint a panoramic view of the moral quality of contemporary college students, let more college students know their own situation, let the society pay more attention to the moral quality of college students, provide suggestions for improving the moral quality of contemporary college students, and also hope to provide some reference for the educational research of relevant educators.
First, research methods.
In this study, questionnaires and interviews were used to collect data. The questionnaire is a self-designed questionnaire for college students' moral quality.
The subjects of the questionnaire survey are undergraduates from eight Guilin universities in 2008 and 2009, including Guangxi Normal University, Guilin University of Technology, Guilin University of Electronic Technology, Guilin Medical College, Guilin Institute of Aerospace Industry, Guilin Normal College, Guilin Tourism College and Lijiang College. The investigation time is April-August of 20 10. A total of 800 questionnaires were distributed in this survey, and 749 questionnaires were recovered, with a recovery rate of 93.6%. Among them, 5 1.9% were male and 47.9% were female. All the interviewees are undergraduates of Guilin University of Technology, and 20 students were interviewed at random. In addition, at the end of the project, 20 respondents were randomly selected for telephone follow-up interviews.
Second, the analysis of the survey results
1. The moral quality of college students is obviously influenced by social utilitarianism.
(1) The utilitarian orientation of political views.
A positive political outlook is the embodiment of good moral quality. Among the questionnaire options of "What do you think is the motivation of college students to join the Party at present?", 17. 1% is the motivation to join the Party, 49.9% is to find a job in the future, and 10.3% is the motivation to gain political capital and prove their ability in the university. Its motives for joining the party are diversified, and its utilitarian tendency is obvious.
Patriotism is also the core of ideology and politics. In the selection of "One's Most Valuable Quality" designed by this survey, "patriotism" as a person's most valuable quality appears in the first place with the highest proportion of 26.5%, followed by "self-respect and self-love" and the third place is "filial piety". The comprehensive proportion of "patriotism" in the top three is 4 1.2%, ranking third, which is not far from the first filial piety and the second self-esteem. This shows that despite the impact of the market economy, contemporary college students still have a strong sense of responsibility for the country, occupying the mainstream of college students' ideological trend, and China's traditional virtues are also advocated by contemporary college students.
② Utilitarianism of social moral cognition.
The cognition of social morality is reflected in the basic civilized behaviors that college students should have, including observing public order, being polite and honest, and cultivating civic awareness and family values. This kind of paper scraps gives up your seat on the bus and gives you change when shopping.
Analysis of the survey results: Scene 1, as a college student with moral cultivation and ideological quality, should choose to "pick it up and throw it in the dustbin", but the results show that more college students choose "it's normal to ignore it" 56. 1%, while only 28.2% expect to "pick it up and throw it in the dustbin"; In the second scenario, the result shows that the absolute advantage is 90.8%. In Scenario 3, 58.5% of the people chose to return voluntarily, in addition, 3 1.6% of the people adopted a "conservative attitude" that is, "depending on the situation".
Through the analysis of the survey results, we can see that contemporary college students' cognition of social morality is generally good, but it is obviously influenced by utilitarianism and selfish thoughts are at work. College students are generally willing to do things that are beneficial to society without harming their own interests.
③ Personal moral cognition has changed.
College students' judgment on campus civilized behavior can reflect their judgment on the degree of social civilization. In this regard, the "Ten uncivilized behaviors on campus" were evaluated, and the investigators were asked to rank ten different uncivilized behaviors from the most uncivilized. Among some uncivilized behaviors on campus, the most hateful and intolerable behavior listed by college students is "stealing", while the least hateful and intolerable behavior listed by college students is "copying homework". During the interview, it was found that many students thought that theft directly harmed their own interests, so they hated it. For plagiarism, most students don't realize that it is actually a kind of "stealing", or that it is "knowledge" that is stolen, not the entity, and this phenomenon is very common around, giving great tolerance. It can be seen that what college students generally dislike is not "stealing". Their evaluation criterion is whether the consequences of theft are related to their own interests.
It is worth noting that in this survey, college students' tolerance for the uncivilized behavior of "cuddling in public" has risen to a very high level. The rise of cuddling in public on campus is obvious to all. It is an act that transcends traditional moral norms, and at least it is impolite to others in public. The high tolerance of college students shows that the supervision and restriction of public opinion on this behavior is gradually weakening for college students.
In addition, combined with the most valuable quality evaluation in the table, we can see that among contemporary college students in Guilin, filial piety, integrity, self-confidence and responsibility are generally listed as the most valuable qualities, while modesty, adventure, frugality and discipline are often ignored to some extent.
2. Most college students have different views on moral quality.
(1) "In the relationship between righteousness and benefit, you are most inclined to" choose.
Most students choose "giving consideration to justice and benefit" 46. 1%, and "treating the specific situation in a specific way" 36.9%. The relationship between morality and interests is the basic problem of moral orientation, and "valuing righteousness over interests" has been the dominant concept advocated by society, but contemporary college students have shown great conflict with traditional moral values. Obviously, this is a manifestation of the principle of equivalent exchange in market economy in moral values.
"What do you think of cheating in exams?" The survey results show that 27.5% people think cheating is better than make-up exams, 17.2% people think it is understandable to get high marks, and even 16.0% people think it's no big deal. I have done it, but 38.7% people still feel disgusted and never cheat. That is to say, * * * 6 1.3% of college students choose the option of cheating for different reasons.
Cheating in exams is also listed as one of the uncivilized behaviors in the selection of "Ten Uncivilized Behaviors on Campus", and most college students show great tolerance to it, second only to "scribbling on desks" and "copying homework". The results of these two surveys show that although contemporary college students have a correct understanding of cheating in exams, they still cheat for various reasons, or express helplessness and recognition of cheating.
The results of gender statistics show that the proportion of men and women who choose not to cheat is basically the same, with 38.05% for men and 39.44% for women. In allowing cheating, the proportion of boys choosing "getting high marks is understandable" and directly admitting that they have done "it's no big deal, I have done it" is higher than that of girls. However, the proportion of girls who choose "better than make-up exams" is 6.95 percentage points higher than that of boys, which also reflects the differences in moral cognition and feelings between different sexes.
② Blackboard Eraser Phenomenon
The survey results show that 23.9% people ignore the act of cleaning the blackboard. Even if they notice that the blackboard needs to be erased, most people think that class leaders should erase 17.4%, or that students in the front row should erase 15.9%, and even that teachers should erase 5.9%. This shows that there is a big gap between "knowing" and "doing" in the morality of respecting teachers and attaching importance to teaching.
In addition, in the investigation on the reasons why few people clean the blackboard, 27.6% of the students chose the option "No one cleans it, it will be too conspicuous and embarrassing if you clean it yourself", ranking first among other options. The different understandings of college students are also influenced to some extent by the idea of conformity and not being ahead of the times.
Respecting teachers does not mean sticking to the details of cleaning the blackboard, but creating a clean and comfortable teaching environment for teachers is the behavior of college students respecting teachers and stressing morality, which should be obligatory. This gap between "knowing" and "doing" is worth thinking about.
Third, the conclusion and reason analysis
Through the analysis and comprehensive discussion of the survey results, it can be concluded that contemporary college students have generally formed their own unique moral concepts.
On the one hand, contemporary college students have been receiving traditional moral education from school and family since childhood, and traditional morality has long been rooted in college students' minds. On the other hand, with the growth of college students' age, they are extremely sensitive to social phenomena and are gradually influenced by bad ideas such as utilitarianism in society. At this time, there is a fierce conflict between the traditional moral thoughts of college students and the bad thoughts in society. Most people choose a "neutral" attitude between these two thoughts, that is, they form their own unique moral concepts.
Under the influence of this spontaneously formed moral concept, college students generally consider their own interests first when dealing with things, making things utilitarian, but at the same time they also recognize the role of traditional morality. Generally, people are willing to do things that are beneficial to society and others without harming their own interests.
According to this, the phenomena investigated can be explained: under the influence of bad social thoughts, contemporary college students are "utilitarian in political view", "utilitarian in social moral cognition" and "changeable in personal moral cognition"; At the same time, due to the shackles of traditional ideas, college students have different moral qualities.
College students are in the formative period of their outlook on life and values, and their understanding of things is still in an unstable, incomplete and contradictory stage. It can be seen that this unique moral concept spontaneously formed by college students is unstable. In the choice of traditional morality and social utility, college students prefer social utility. Contemporary college students generally face this "moral crisis". College students themselves and the whole society should have a clear understanding of this "moral crisis", attach importance to its existence, and resolve it through the joint efforts of family, society, schools, educators and college students themselves, so that college students can become the backbone of building a harmonious society under the support of a good moral quality environment.
