Some people say that what you do will make you who you are now. Action is an important basis for judging a person's character and conduct. It is for this reason that the ancients in China emphasized "Listen to his words and observe his deeds".
Wang Yangming, a famous thinker in Ming Dynasty, put forward the idea of "unity of knowledge and action". "Knowledge is the beginning of action, and action is the achievement of knowledge". Cognition and action are one, only cognition, no action, not real cognition. A person full of filial piety, including filial piety and caring for parents in today's circle of friends, is not really "filial piety." This is just an illusory self-comfort, or a kind of hypocrisy.
At all times, we should be alert to this hypocrisy of "words differ from deeds". The elites in the late Ming Dynasty were patriotic, ethical, loyal, filial and benevolent, impassioned and inviolable. However, few people really do things and serve. On the contrary, hypocrites are everywhere. With such an atmosphere, can the Ming Dynasty resist the edge of the vibrant Qing Dynasty?
Look at today's highly developed Internet and communication technologies. This is irresponsible and irrational. The "keyboard man" and "spitter" who "sit and talk" can even kidnap public opinion and affect the reasonable judgment of the public. Shouldn't this arouse our vigilance and reflection?
"Practice makes true knowledge", and action is particularly important. However, actions should be rational and "think twice before you act". Is patriotic action "smashing Japanese cars"? During the war years, was students' patriotism "fighting for bayonets on the battlefield"? How should ordinary people act during the epidemic?
The answer is rational action. "smashing Japanese cars" is definitely not a patriotic act, but a criminal act. In wartime, students' patriotism is to cherish the hard-won "quiet desk" and study hard. During the epidemic, the patriotism of ordinary people is to keep order and not add chaos. This is a rational action.
Action is very important, but if a person is pure and kind inside, but limited by objective conditions, he can't "act". Is he a good man? Children from the bottom families can only make their parents barely eat and wear; A bottom-level parent, carrying a few-year-old children in the cold winter, has no companionship. Are they good parents?
