Domestication translation and foreignization translation were put forward by Venuti, and the terms came directly from a paper read by German linguist and translation theorist Schleiermacher in 18 13. Schleiermacher put forward two translation methods in On Translation Methods. One is to let the author live as calmly as possible and guide readers to approach the author. The other is to let readers live in peace as much as possible and guide the author to get close to readers. Venuti (200 1:240) defines domestication translation as observing the current mainstream values of the target language and culture, and consciously adopting conservative assimilation methods to make it conform to the local canon publishing trend and political needs. . Venuti (200 1:240) defines alienation as: deviating from the local mainstream values and retaining the linguistic and cultural differences of the original text. Foreignization translation is a kind of translation based on the source language culture, that is, to preserve the flavor of the source language as much as possible, so that the exotic flavor of the source language culture can survive, and to enable the target language readers to appreciate the "authentic" foreign land, they do not hesitate to adopt language norms that do not conform to the target language. Generally speaking, domestication holds that the target language or the target language reader should be the destination of translation, while foreignization holds that the source language or the original author should be the destination. The so-called "destination" here is not only at the linguistic level, but also in the cross-cultural sense. From the perspective of language form and cultural content, foreignization and domestication can coexist in the same translation. Therefore, apart from rejection and opposition, alienation and domestication are more compatible and coexist.
