As we said in the previous video, directly changing a better halogen bulb can also solve the problem. But if you just want to upgrade a good product, in most cases, LED lights will have greater advantages.
LED lamp has more advantages than xenon lamp.
First of all, technically, LED lamps have many advantages over xenon lamps, one by one.
Long service life and high luminous efficiency.
First, the life of LED lamps will be longer.
There is a paper on the technical development of car headlights in the magazine Automotive Practical Technology.
The service life of LED is 20,000 hours, which is 20 times longer than halogen lamp on average. Xenon lamps are only three times higher than halogen lamps. Well, when we look at each other, it's several times different.
Because LED lamp is a high-power semiconductor chip, it is usually fixed on the bracket with glue, then sealed with epoxy resin, and then installed with the shell.
There are no loose parts in the lamp, which has good stability and strong impact resistance.
For example, ancient cultural relics and specimens are not sealed with wax. It's not a problem to keep it for hundreds or thousands of years, is it?
Besides, I didn't say there was a bolt here. There is something stamping over there, which has not been connected for a long time. Why not?
Moreover, technology is constantly developing. At present, the luminous efficiency of LED lamps is generally higher than that of xenon lamps and halogen lamps.
There is a paper in "Automotive Electrical Appliances", which is mentioned in "Automotive Light Source and Lighting in the Intelligent Age".
Common vehicle light sources, the practical efficiency of LED lamps is three times that of xenon lamps and five times that of halogen lamps. Look, it's worse.
Convenient modification and low failure rate.
In addition, many car LED bulbs on the market are designed as "original car in situ", which is more convenient to plug and modify.
But xenon lamps are not that simple. You need to install an extra ballast and cut it off. There are many things to adjust and do about working current and voltage.
University of Electronic Science and Technology of China has a master's thesis to share with you. This point is mentioned in the design and implementation of electronic voltage stabilizer for automobile xenon lamp.
When the headlight switch "pa" is turned on, the ballast instantly raises the voltage of the automobile battery from 12V to about 23000V. After the gas discharge emits light, the AC voltage is maintained at 85V, and the working current is 400A. ..
Very impressive. If the 23,000 V leakage is screwed up, the consequences will be unimaginable.
Later, some xenon lamps were modified, and the ballast quality was uneven. If there are some faults or problems due to high voltage and high current, it may be easier to burn out the fuse of the car.
Once these faults occur, it is very troublesome to check them out and find out the reasons. Comparatively speaking, LED lights will be more worry-free.
Low illumination delay
The last one is the turn-on and turn-off of the LED light, with relatively low delay.
There is also a paper in the Journal of Automobile Maintenance, which is "On the Types, Advantages and Disadvantages of car headlights".
Vehicle LED lamp can emit light in microsecond level, and there is no hot start time; The delay of traditional halogen bulbs is about 0.3s.
The xenon lamp mentioned in the article just now generally reaches 25% of the final brightness after lighting 1s and 80% of the final brightness after 4s due to the instantaneous boosting and discharging process of the ballast.
The longer the light bulb is used, the brighter it will be. After 2 to 4 minutes, the brightness tends to be stable.
If the headlights are modified with xenon lamps, there is no far and near light, and there is no way to remind other vehicles by flashing the high beam, which affects safety.
At the critical moment, just at the beginning, something went wrong.
Matters needing attention in refitting LED lamp
There are some things to pay attention to when reviewing.
Pay attention to heat dissipation.
First of all, the problem of heat dissipation should be considered when upgrading LED headlights.
LED has a short board in heat dissipation. Once overheated, the life of LED lamps will be shortened, the brightness will be reduced, and other parts of headlights may be burned, which is risky.
Otherwise, someone used LEDs decades ago, right? The same as when assembling a computer. Heat dissipation is better, otherwise the computer will crash.
Wuhan University of Technology has a master's thesis "Analysis and Optimization of LED Headlights".
When the LED light source works, 70% to 80% of the energy will be converted into heat. In addition, the package size of LED chip is quite small, which will lead to higher local heat flux density.
At the same time, the high temperature environment in the engine compartment also increases the difficulty of heat dissipation.
You also said, "Ah, I'll blow some hot air for you." It said, "I'd rather not blow you some hot air." Isn't it?
On the contrary, the heat of halogen lamps can be directly radiated into the surrounding air, and the heat is not concentrated.
Imagine a small solar heater, bright and warm? The reason is similar. If you put your hand directly on the heating wire, it will be very hot and scattered, so the LED will be different.
Therefore, when choosing LED lamps, it is best to choose LED lamps with copper fins and cooling fans to achieve the best cooling effect.
And in the process of installation and use, always pay attention to heating and heat dissipation.
Pay attention to the light range. If there is no lens, it is better to add a lens.
Another one is: to modify and upgrade LED lights, it is also necessary to check the illumination range of debugging lights. If the lens is not installed, it must be installed.
GB 7258-20 17 "technical requirements for motor vehicle operation safety" is in the national standard.
There are specific provisions on the vertical position of the corner or key point of the low beam cutoff line and the vertical position of the maximum luminous intensity point of the high beam.
You don't need to remember numbers, you just need to know the height, left and right, what shape, and how far the light beam can shine. You can't mess around. You should ask a professional master to do it according to the national standard.
Just like: press the phone to open the phone case, sew it tightly and buckle it in.
This thing: "I want a bigger phone case." "I want a thinner phone case." Isn't it useless not to put it in? If the violation is correct, it will be changed for nothing.
Switch from the original halogen bulb to LED. After being plugged in, the position, shape and intensity of the original light source have changed. You need to install a lens to focus the light and adjust it to the right position.
And you have to install this thing to avoid light scattering, resulting in poor lighting effect, unqualified annual inspection, or problems.
You have to think about it. Has anyone turned on the low beam? Because there is no lens, it is more dazzling than the high beam. Tut-tut is really uncomfortable, isn't it?
When people are uncomfortable, they will be uncomfortable. People can't see clearly, so they beat themselves. Why bother? It doesn't cost much to install a lens. Don't change without a lens. That's what I thought.
Considering the penetrating power of rainy and foggy weather
Finally, in rainy and foggy days, the penetration of LED lamps is a little worse than that of halogen lamps.
When light is scattered in rain and fog, according to Rayleigh scattering law and Michaelis scattering principle, the higher the color temperature, the worse the penetration effect.
What concept? Isn't the halogen lamp yellow? Correct. Its color temperature is usually around 3000K Kelvin. The color temperature of LED is around 5000K K, does it look very white, like a fluorescent lamp?
If the car doesn't have a special front fog lamp, try to avoid the high color temperature when buying a light bulb.
In other words, the light should not look white, even a little pale, with a little blue, like a fire on a gas stove.
In this foggy day, there is basically no effect. "Click" a photo, all foggy, and I can't see the road at all.
To upgrade car headlights, LED is more worthy of choice.
So, on the whole, if you don't want to use halogen bulbs when upgrading car headlights, LED is a better choice now.
But we must pay attention to the details and national regulations just mentioned. Being responsible for others is also responsible for yourself.
Why only Audi is called "lighting factory"
After changing the lights, I always feel that the effect is not as good as the original headlights of some cars.
For example, the most famous Audi is called "Lamp Factory". These lights are so beautiful that the whole village thinks it is daytime.
Everyone calls it "LED light". What is the difference? What new technologies are used? There are patents?
Some friends drove there with headlights on. There will be fog and water in it. Does it matter? Is the car broken? Or is there something wrong with the quality of the light bulb?
Some 4S shops will see water in your lamp and say, "Claim for a new one." Some 4S stores said, "This is normal. You drive it back and it will be fine in two days. " What the hell happened?
Keywords: car lights
I think it's very simple, "spare tire says car", just reply to the keyword "headlight".
Give you a practical dry car every day, including text, audio and video. Just choose the version you like. Spare tire talks about the car waiting for you to play.
