The earliest origin of the image of Friar Sand is the desert that Xuanzang experienced in seeking dharma. He personified the desert into a deep sand god, and displayed it as a representative of an ascetic monk in The Journey to the West.
One: Conscious sense of atonement. Friar Sand used to be a general in the Heavenly Palace, but his fate was completely changed because of an accidental mistake of accidentally breaking a glass lamp. So Guanyin Bodhisattva advised him to be an apprentice with Buddhist scriptures, and he immediately expressed his willingness to "convert to positive results". On the way to the Western Heaven, Wukong kept talking about the charm of making a scene in heaven. Bajie always divides the luggage, and even Tang Priest shows homesickness. Only Friar Sand wholeheartedly went to the Western Heaven to learn Buddhist scriptures.
Two: obey, be wise and protect yourself! Compared with the molestation of Chang 'e by Tiangong and Bajie, it is not a big sin for Friar Sand to accidentally break the glass lamp. But he suffered the most, but in the end he just sealed a golden arhat!
Three: work hard, work hard. Friar Sand has always been a down-to-earth person who doesn't care about gains and losses. He is not as greedy for fame as Wukong, nor as greedy for fame as Bajie. On the way to learn the scriptures, the real down-to-earth person is this sand monk.
