In June, 20xx, the Ministry of Education issued the excellent engineer training plan (referred to as "excellent plan"), aiming at drawing lessons from the successful experience of higher engineering education in advanced countries in the world and creating an engineering education model with China characteristics. This shows that the reform and development of higher engineering education in China pays more attention to the close cooperation between higher education and industries and enterprises, pays more attention to cultivating students' engineering consciousness, engineering quality and engineering practice ability, and emphasizes cultivating and bringing up a large number of excellent engineers with strong innovation ability to meet the needs of enterprise development. The promulgation of this plan is of great practical significance for promoting the construction of an innovative country, realizing industrialization and modernization, enhancing core competitiveness and comprehensive national strength, and laying a solid foundation for the talent pool needed for China's future social development.
Taiyuan University of Technology is an institution of higher learning with work as the center, the combination of science and engineering, and the coordinated development of multiple disciplines. It is one of the national "2 1 1 project" key construction universities and one of the five key universities in the central region. 20 10 was listed as one of the first batch of pilot universities for outstanding engineers by the Ministry of Education, among which chemical engineering and technology specialty was listed as one of the first batch of five pilot majors. Therefore, combining the requirements of the "Excellence Plan" and the actual situation of Taiyuan University of Technology, it is of great significance to comprehensively carry out the reform of the training mode of chemical engineering and technology professionals to improve the engineering practice ability and engineering literacy of chemical engineering undergraduates in our university. This paper mainly expounds the major measures taken by the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of our school in recent years to implement the "Excellent Engineer Training Plan" and its influence on the reform of chemical engineering education in our school.
I. student selection plan
Chemical technology in our school is a national key discipline, chemical engineering is a key discipline in Shanxi Province, and there are first-class doctoral programs and postdoctoral mobile stations in chemical engineering and technology. Therefore, the major of chemical engineering and technology is very attractive to students. Four classes of undergraduates are enrolled every year, with nearly 120 students, which has a good foundation.
First of all, after the freshmen reported for duty, we organized teachers to explain to the students the significance of setting up the outstanding chemical engineer program by the Ministry of Education, and organized students to visit the chemical engineering basic laboratory, so that students had a preliminary understanding of the training of outstanding engineers and the chemical engineering foundation; Secondly, let students voluntarily fill in the application form of outstanding engineers and organize written tests; Written test questions are given by professors with rich practical experience and theoretical level, with the purpose of examining students' basic qualities (including computer and English level), thinking methods, carefulness and preliminary knowledge and understanding of chemical engineering. Then according to the written test results, select the top 50 to participate in the interview. Interview work is usually divided into two parts. The interview team consists of 3-4 professors with rich engineering practice experience. Interview topics focus on students' ability to analyze and solve problems, management and communication skills, employment ideals, growth experience, hard-working ability and innovative consciousness, so as to judge whether students have the basic ability of outstanding engineers. According to the evaluation results of the interview team members, the second round of selection was carried out, and the top 25 students were selected as the training objects of outstanding chemical engineers, and the classes were arranged separately. From 20 10 to 20 12, about 25 students form a pilot class every year.
Second, the general idea of the training plan
The main goal of the "Excellence Plan" is to cultivate a large number of high-quality engineering and technical talents with strong innovation ability to meet the needs of economic and social development, lay a solid human resource advantage for building an innovative country, realize industrialization and modernization, and enhance China's core competitiveness and comprehensive national strength. The quality of training outstanding engineers is the key to whether colleges and universities can train qualified outstanding engineers, and it is also the fundamental place to realize the main goal of "Excellence Plan". Therefore, based on the reality of our school, the college aims to strengthen students' engineering practice ability, engineering design ability and engineering innovation ability, reconstruct the curriculum system and teaching content, and implement the knowledge and ability outline into specific courses and teaching links.
According to the actual situation of students in our school, the main courses are mainly basic courses and specialized courses of chemical technology, and the proportion of practical links is increased to train applied engineers. The total class hours were reduced from 2400 to 1998. Specific class hours.
Third, the characteristics of running a school in practice
The school-running characteristics of a university's talent training highlight the school-running level. Combined with the actual situation of our school, the practice of excellent students is mainly highlighted in two aspects, on the one hand, the experiment and design of related courses in the school, on the other hand, the practice of enterprises. This paper mainly expounds the practical characteristics of our school around the practice of enterprises.
In view of the characteristics of the research direction of chemical technology teachers in our school and the actual situation of Shanxi Province as a major energy province, in order to cultivate the practical ability of students in the pilot class of outstanding engineers, the school has established a national engineering practice training center in cooperation with Shanxi Tianji Coal Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. and Shanxi Sanwei Group Co., Ltd., and the school arranges students to go to field practice related to the courses they study every semester (from the second semester to the sixth semester), with teachers explaining; Students are required to practice in enterprises for half a year in the seventh semester to realize on-the-job internship. During this period, the enterprise bears the actual expenses of some students, and the school buys relevant insurance for students. Last semester, students put forward the graduation design content according to the technical route of the internship enterprise or the technical transformation of the enterprise. The school and the enterprise * * * agreed on the graduation design topic and work plan of the students, so that the students could finish their work in the enterprise and go back to school to defend themselves.
Fourth, look to the future.
As far as the pilot class of outstanding engineers in chemical engineering in our school is concerned, there are still the following problems: 1. Due to the implementation of post evaluation system in our school, teachers generally feel the pressure of scientific research, and it is difficult to devote their main energy to the teaching research and practical training of outstanding engineers. 2. The appointment of enterprise tutors in the pilot class of outstanding engineers has not yet established a perfect system and is still in the exploration stage. 3. The relationship between students and enterprises has not been substantially exercised and improved, and the relevant security system has not been established. 4. At present, the decentralized internship system adopted by students needs further exploration and discussion. In view of the existing problems, the school should set up a full-time teacher team to train excellent engineers, give policy inclination in post assessment, and let them engage in the teaching of excellent pilot classes with peace of mind; As soon as possible, the employment salary scheme for enterprise tutors and the internship guidance scheme for students will be introduced; As soon as possible, we will establish the assessment standards for the learning effect, practice cost and personal safety system involved in students' decentralized practice with enterprises.
