Five ecologists in China
Jiang Gaoming 1

On September 4th, 2009, Professor Jiang Gaoming, a famous botanist in China and now a doctoral supervisor of China Academy of Sciences, visited the interactive encyclopedia interview room. The incident that Nestle baby food contains genetically modified ingredients has aroused widespread concern among netizens, so he specially answered the relevant knowledge about genetically modified food.

2. Hou Yuxue

Hou has his own unique views on ecosystem and ecological balance. He does not deny that forests, grasslands, farmland and waters should belong to different ecosystem types. But geographically, mountains, water, forests, fields, roads and villages are interrelated, and agriculture, forests, animal husbandry, by-products and fisheries constitute a special ecosystem.

This is the theoretical basis of his "big agriculture" and the main basis for advocating ecological agriculture.

3. Li Jidong

The Forest Survey of Qingdao published by Li Jidong in 192 1 is one of the earliest literature on forest ecology in China. Under the influence of Professor Toumi, Li Jidong completed his doctoral thesis "Soil Temperament under the Influence of Forest Cover-Nature".

4. Liu Shene

After 1950, it was transferred to the study of plant geography and plant ecology in Northeast China, summed up the laws of plant succession in Northeast forest areas, and used them to solve the problems of forestry production, and put forward the policy of "adapting to local conditions, suitable forests and trees, and timely and suitable types" for forest harvesting. His research results, after popularization, directly promoted the development of forestry.

5. Ma Shijun

In this paper, the physiological ecology of Locusta migratoria manilensis, the migration law of armyworm in winter, the dynamics of pest population and the theory of integrated pest control were studied, and new viewpoints such as "combining transformation and control to eradicate locust harm", "population growth in different environments" and systematic control were put forward, and forecasting methods were formulated, which enriched insect population ecology, ecological geography and the theory of integrated pest control.

It has also played an important role in plant protection, and put forward a series of new ideas such as "ecological economics" and "economic ecology" principles in controlling environmental pollution and protecting the ecological environment.
