Nanyang Wuhou Temple, also known as Zhuge 'an, is located on Wollongong in the southwest of Nanyang City. It is an ancestral temple built by the ancients to commemorate Zhuge Liang, a famous politician, thinker and strategist in the Three Kingdoms period.
When the Wuhou Temple in Nanyang was founded is not recorded in the literature, but Liu Yuxi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, wrote a poem "Zhuge Lu in Nanyang, Ting Yun Pavilion in West Shu" in his humble room inscription. It seems that as early as the Tang Dynasty, there were Zhuge Caolu on Wollongong. This temple was destroyed by war in the early Yuan Dynasty. In the second year of Yuan Dade (1298), the Nanyang government invested in large-scale reconstruction and extended it for two years (13 15), adding the Kongming Academy. Unfortunately, it was burned by soldiers at the end of Yuan Dynasty and the beginning of Ming Dynasty. During Chenghua period of Ming Dynasty, Kongming Academy was restored. Later, it was restored by Hongzhi, Zheng De, Jiajing, Qin Long, Wanli and Chongzhen. In A.D. 1528, Emperor Jiaqing of the Ming Dynasty specially offered a sum and a sacrifice to the "Zhongwu" Hall of the Wuhou Temple in Nanyang. In the fifty-first year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (17 12), Luo Jing, the chief of Nanyang, underwent a large-scale renovation and expansion. In this construction, it was found that a stone carving of Ten Scenes in Wollongong was sung by predecessors, and Luo Jing restored it according to this stone carving. Today, the main architectural layout of Wuhou Temple still maintains the form of late Ming and early Qing Dynasty.
When you step into the gate of Wuhou Temple, you are confronted with a large clay sculpture of Zhuge Liang, his son Zhuge Zhan and Sun Zhuge Shang. On the front of the hall is the Ming Dynasty stele gallery, inlaid with the "Model" stone carving inscribed by Yue Fei. The buildings behind the temple mainly include Zhuge Maolu, Ye Yun Temple, Cooper Pavilion, Companion Platform and Ningyuan Building.
Zhuge Cao Lu, also known as Zhuge An, has a brick-wood structure, octagonal eaves, octagonal corridors and thatched roofs. The main entrance of the thatched cottage is hung with the "Zhuge Cao Lu" plaque inscribed by Guo Moruo.
Ye Yun 'an is three rooms deep, and the bricks on both sides of the door are engraved with couplets of "Clouds belong to Dahan, and the door is cold from ancient times to the present". Its exterior is decorated with brick carvings of pine trees and cranes. The tilling pavilion is simple in structure and simple in shape. There are two logs supporting the pavilion eaves in front and a brick wall behind. There is a stone statue of Zhuge Wuhou in the pavilion. For example, there are couplets engraved on both sides with "Two thousand nuns beg Wei Que and Wu Gong to live in peace, and how three generations are better than Shang, Yi and Zhou". .
Accompanied by the platform, it is several feet high and the audience is the Old Dragon Cave. On both sides of the cave gate, there are stone carvings. "There are several pieces of cloth, which have been famous all over the world since ancient times. Why not make the mountains and rivers colorful?" On the right side of Wuhou Temple, there is a newly added courtyard during the Tongzhi period of the Qing Dynasty, which was specially built to commemorate Liu Bei's three visits to the thatched cottage. There is a Sangutang at the back of the courtyard, which contains large statues of Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang.
There are a large number of inscriptions in Wuhou Temple, about 300 stones, including seal script, official script, regular script and cursive script. Among them, the seal script "Ge Kongming's Old Residence in Daobei Meng", the official script "Caoludui", the regular script "Biography of Zhuge" and the cursive script "Teacher's Watch" have high attainments in calligraphy art and carving technology, and are valuable materials for studying China's calligraphy art.
Nanyang Wuhou Temple was famous in the Tang Dynasty. Poet Liu Yuxi praised "Zhuge Lu in Nanyang, Ting Yun Pavilion in Xishu, and Confucius said:' What is modesty'", and his Nanyang said: "Confucius is good at plowing fields and hoeing", and the poet Du Fu's Temple of Wuhou said: "When you listen to my resignation, you will not lie in Nanyang any more", and the poet Li Bai's Journey to the South said: "Who knows that the Wolong guest sings about the temple?" The inscription "Yue Shaobao's Introduction to Wuhou II Table" is cursive, elegant and vigorous. Yue Fei wrote in the "Postscript": "Shaoxing looks forward to August in Wuwu Autumn, crossing Nanyang, visiting Wuhou Temple and waiting for the temple in case of rain. Holding the candle deeper, it can be seen that the former sages praised the two tables of words, poems and stone carvings in front of the temple, and they did not feel tears. It's night, but I can't sleep. I sat still. After the Taoist offered tea, he made a piece of paper to ask for words, shook his eyes and wrote, which relieved his depressed ears a little, regardless of his work. Yue Fei knows each other. "
There are couplets in the temple praising Zhuge Liang's historical achievements:
Set three points, burn Wang Bo, out of Qishan, immortal.
Zhou Qizhi refused Sima and captured Meng Huo alive, which spread from ancient times to modern times.
Nanyang Wuhou Temple is said to be the most influential one. The earliest Wuhou Temple in China is located in Mianxian County, Hanzhong, Shaanxi Province. Mianxian Wuhou Temple is the first Wuhou Temple in the world.
Xiangyang Longzhong also has the saying of "three visits to the thatched cottage", which is difficult to determine. You can watch it.
