Peking Union Medical College Hospital pioneered the treatment of refractory plasma cell mastitis.
After ten years' research and exploration, Professor Huang Hanyuan from the Department of Breast Surgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital applied breast flap technology to the treatment of plasma cell mastitis, which solved the problems of easy recurrence after operation, wound healing and appearance after lesion resection. This is the first case in the field of plasma cell mastitis treatment at home and abroad.

Different from common mastitis, antibiotic treatment of plasma cell mastitis is ineffective. This is a non-infectious mastitis disease with unknown etiology, which mostly occurs in young and middle-aged women. The disease is characterized by plasma cells infiltrating into breast tissues and ducts, with a wide range of lesions and easy recurrence, mainly manifested as breast lumps, suppuration and infection. Some cases can be cured by conservative drug treatment, incision and drainage or lesion resection in the early stage, but about 30% of patients are still ineffective after conservative treatment. After previous operations, they recurred repeatedly, with a wider range of lesions, and eventually evolved into refractory plasma cell mastitis.

Refractory plasma cell mastitis is a recognized problem in the field of breast surgery. Incomplete surgical resection often leads to recurrence. The huge surgical defect area caused by complete resection of the focus seriously affects the beauty of * * *, and even many treatments have to remove the breast, which brings great pain to patients. Therefore, we have to have plastic surgery again. Professor Huang Hanyuan from the Department of Breast Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital innovated the idea of operation. In one operation, the diseased tissue is removed, and plastic surgery technology is used, that is, the gland flap around the breast is used to cover the surgical wound and shape the defect area.

Professor Huang has accumulated rich surgical experience since 10 years ago. In the last four years, he has performed more than 540 operations for plasma cell mastitis, with a success rate of 98%. Related research papers were published in JournalofSurgicalResearch, Chinese Journal of Breast Diseases and other domestic and foreign academic journals.

Professor Huang pointed out that breast diseases are mostly related to excessive life pressure and poor hygiene and eating habits. In order to prevent it, we must first ensure a healthy lifestyle, maintain breast hygiene, eat less fat and spicy food, and don't smoke and drink too much; In addition, fertility and breastfeeding are of great benefit to reducing breast diseases; Finally, regular physical examination is needed. Hand examination by professional doctors is an important clinical basis, and B-ultrasound is the least harmful and simplest method to check breast.
