When visiting a bookstore, I see a beautifully printed book. No matter whether it is useful or not, I will pay for it. This may be beyond my control, but sometimes it is also bound by money, hehe. To put it simply, I like books, and I prefer beautiful book binding. I talk about my understanding of the art of book binding, hoping to get recognition and guidance from my peers and teachers. Almost every family has books, but not everyone can understand the art of book binding. Is this just like people who live in the house every day, but not everyone knows architectural art? More practical things are often overlooked because of their artistic value. If we understand from the complete meaning of "book binding", we can say that there can be no books without book binding, and even the spirit can not be separated from the same body. Even if "book binding" is narrowly confined to the scope of art, without book binding, books will become humble and lack aesthetic feeling, and it is not difficult to imagine the appearance of white paper. I don't want to explain many terms in "book binding", such as knotting notes before the early characters came into being, and slips, strategies, guards, silks, books, thread binding and book eyebrows in ancient China. I believe that friends who love book binding also know a little. Some people misunderstand "book binding art" as only referring to the design of the ring lining of the cover and title page, including illustrations at most. Here I mainly talk about my own cover design experience. The cover is the appearance of the book, which not only reflects the content and nature of the book, but also gives readers a beautiful enjoyment and plays a role in protecting the book. Cover design includes the title of the book, the name of the editor, the name of the publishing house, decorative images, colors and composition. How to make the cover reflect the content, nature and genre of the book, and how to make the cover play the role of inducing people's psychology and enlightening people's thinking is the most important part in the cover design. ② Modeling of cover design. Modeling should have obvious characteristics of readers' age and cultural level. For example, the image of children's books should be concrete, true and accurate, and the composition should be lively, especially informative and interesting; For young and middle-aged readers to the elderly, the image can gradually change from concrete to abstract, and the symbolic method should be adopted, and the composition can also change from lively form to serious and solemn form. ③ The color of the cover design. Color is determined by the content of the book and the age and educational level of the reading object. Bright colors are mostly used in children's books; Calm and harmonious colors are suitable for middle-aged and elderly people to read materials; Colors between bright and gray are suitable for young people's reading materials. In addition, the contents of the book also have specific requirements for color. For example, books describing historical sites of revolutionary struggle should be in red tones; Books with the content of exposing the ugly phenomenon of dark society should be black and white; The best way to show youthful vitality is to use red and green. For readers, due to the differences in cultural literacy, nationality and occupation, they also have different preferences for the color of books. Book binding design needs to be the same as other binding designs. After investigation and study, it is necessary to check and proofread the design program. First of all, learn the essence of the original work from the owner of knowledge-the author or the text editor. And through my own reading, understanding and deepening, I can make a correct judgment on the content, nature, characteristics and readers of the object I want to bind. If you are an editor, you need to make a plan for the form of books. Solve the problems of large size, small size, hardcover, paperback, paper and printing. For a designer. What we should pay more attention to is how to solve the problem under the given layout, materials and printing process conditions. Mobilize one's design talent through imagination, and make one's artistic aesthetic pursuit echo the connotation of "cultural form" of the book. Don't just stay in political books, be solemn and generous. Literary books emphasize various forms, while children's books pursue innocence and liveliness. It needs to be further deepened to achieve the full and harmonious expression of the understanding scale of the manuscript and the artistic expression scale in the creation. With rich expression techniques and rich content, the intuitive understanding of visual thinking (visual physiology) and the inferential understanding of visual thinking (visual psychology) are highly unified to meet people's knowledge, imagination and aesthetic requirements. Book binding is both three-dimensional and flat, and this three-dimensional is composed of many planes. Not only can you see the front cover, back cover and spine from the outside, but also from the outside to the inside. With the visual flow, every page is flat. All these planes should be bound and designed to give people a good feeling. Some people use architectural art as a metaphor for book binding. Architectural art is a kind of space art and a kind of quiet art, but it can produce a sense of rhythm and flow through layout. The same is true of book binding, which approaches the text step by step through the cover, ring lining and title page. This continuous appreciation process is like visiting a garden in China. Enter the garden gate, gradually lead to the depths, winding path leading to a secluded place. Finally entered the main hall. In the main hall, you can see the image, activities and environment of the master recorded in the text through the window of illustration. This continuous marching process from the outside to the inside produces different rhythm changes according to different types and styles of books; Literary books with strong feelings should be bigger and more lively; Serious theoretical monographs require a clear hierarchy in design and a strict sense of order. Of course, in the end, every designer will have his own emphasis and ideas on book binding design. Some pay attention to the use of color, express the content of books with abstract graphics and individual colors, and some pay attention to the integrity of modeling to tell the story of a book. Just like our still life sketch, several people in the same group will have several different pictures, because the still life they see is different, some pay attention to light, and some may pay attention to it.
