Exploration on Innovative Design of Junior Middle School English Homework

As a universal language, English plays a very important role in life. If we want to improve people's English, we should start with school education. China has been practicing this policy and has started to use the new English curriculum standards. The new curriculum standard mainly emphasizes interactive learning, and many scholars are also studying this teaching method. Based on the theory of multiple intelligences, innovative research and design of English homework can effectively stimulate students' interest in learning and improve their mastery of English knowledge.

For students, homework is the consolidation of what they have learned in class, and students can also find some problems in their study during the process of doing homework. As an extension of classroom teaching, English homework is very important to cultivate students' autonomous learning ability after class. However, in the current English teaching process, some English teachers ignore this point and still adopt the traditional English homework assignment mode, which makes students gradually lose interest in homework and the homework after class can not achieve the expected results.

First, the shortcomings of traditional English homework

Classroom assignments can effectively feedback the teaching effect of the classroom to teachers, so that teachers can understand the students' mastery of knowledge. However, some English teachers only pay attention to the innovation of classroom teaching methods, often ignoring the need for careful design of homework. Therefore, when assigning homework, most teachers only pay attention to the understanding of classroom knowledge, but not to its flexibility and novelty. The traditional operation mode has the following disadvantages:

(1) Assign work without goals. When many teachers assign English homework, they just ask students to write words or compositions, which is not targeted, making students write homework in order to complete their homework, and their English level can not be improved.

(2) The homework is too rigid and does not take into account the actual situation of students. Different students have different English learning levels and uneven academic performance. For example, some students have good writing skills, but they are not good at mastering words. Some students can remember words, but are not good at grammar. On the other hand, all students' homework is the same, which leads to students with poor academic performance gradually losing interest in learning English, and students who study well also lower their requirements for themselves because their homework is too simple. Therefore, teachers should consider the basic situation of students.

(3) The form of English homework is too simplistic. Most teachers simply pursue the improvement of their grades and don't pay attention to the improvement of English ability. Therefore, the purpose of the teacher's assignment is for the exam, and too much attention is paid to the assignment of handwritten homework. However, students themselves don't like homework. This kind of homework that only pays attention to written homework can only make students lose interest in learning English.

Second, based on the theory of multiple intelligences, innovative exploration of junior high school English homework.

What is the theory of multiple intelligences?

Because people's own potential is diverse, for example, in addition to language potential, people have certain potential in music, interpersonal communication, self-awareness, body and so on. Therefore, the theory of multiple intelligences is to continuously develop students' potential and maximize it.

(2) Based on the theory of multiple intelligences, analyze the functions and characteristics of junior high school English homework.

Take junior high school English as an example. In the study of the second volume of English for grade seven, students are taught to know and understand the reading methods of some countries and cities, and on this basis, they can spell the countries and cities, learn the interrogative sentences guided by "where" and master their basic structures. For this teaching goal, teachers should first pay attention to students' different learning levels. Some students like foreign culture and may be interested in learning this unit, but some students don't. For the memory of English names of these countries, some students like to keep writing on paper and remember them several times. Some students like to memorize while listening to music. Some students are used to learning about these countries by looking up some information about them on the Internet. Therefore, the theory of multiple intelligences is more flexible, and teachers should re-understand the functions and characteristics of English homework according to the differences of different students' learning styles.

1. Enrich the content on the basis of implementing the new curriculum standards. That is, the design of junior high school English homework should no longer be based solely on the content of textbooks, but should strengthen the coverage of some extracurricular content, enrich the homework content, enrich students' extracurricular knowledge and enhance students' interest in learning English.

2. Student-oriented homework design. In a class, although the teachers are the same and the teaching content is the same, the students' learning ability is uneven. So the difficulty of homework should be graded according to the learning ability of different students.

3. Pay attention to the flexibility in form. Homework doesn't have to be done in exercise books, but it can also be done in different forms. For example, let students master the "where" sentence pattern and let them chat with some foreigners. Using this sentence pattern will not only help them master this sentence pattern, but also help them improve their spoken English.

4. Open arrangement. When designing homework, we can aim at a problem, let students imagine, think from multiple angles and explore actively, so that students can pay more attention to the cultivation and promotion of comprehensive ability in the process of completing homework.

Thirdly, apply the theory of multiple intelligences to junior high school English homework.

(A) innovative design of junior high school English homework, you can use music to assist memory.

Because most people like music very much, just like many students, they like to do their homework while listening to music, which not only relieves the pressure, but also helps them finish their homework. Applying music to homework is more helpful to develop students' musical potential. For example, in Unit 9 of Grade 7, the teaching goal is to learn some core words, such as descriptive adjectives, by understanding the English expressions of various types of movies, comparing the characteristics of various movies, because some of these adjectives are long and difficult to remember, and because the words themselves are boring, some students can remember a single word. But you don't know what words mean in sentences. The theory of multiple intelligences solves this problem. When learning these words, students can play a certain rhythm according to the stress position and the number of syllables. At this time, they can work in pairs and record the completed results in phonetic form. When reciting the text, students can match the text with music according to their own understanding, or match the music with different feelings in a text according to different events at different stages, which not only effectively remembers the text, but also exercises oral English.

(2) Strengthen physical intelligence and add new blood to the English homework.

Physical intelligence shows that people use limbs to express their thoughts or emotions. If you use this method in class, it is not suitable because it takes too long, but it can be used in the design of homework, such as junior high school English published by PEP. In Unit 5, Grade 7, the teaching goal is to learn about common sports in different countries, such as baseball, basketball, tennis and rugby. Comparing the differences between American football and soccer, on this basis, teachers can organize students to learn or play these balls, strengthen students' knowledge of these balls, and take pictures of them for better memory. This can also increase students' interest in learning English and enrich the forms of homework after class. This paper mainly analyzes the shortcomings of traditional junior high school English homework, analyzes the basic concept, characteristics, performance and application of multiple intelligences theory in junior high school English homework innovation, and puts forward some measures to innovate junior high school English homework design with the relevant contents of PEP English as an example, which can provide reference for junior high school English teachers in homework arrangement.
