Focusing on the national strategic decision of "double first-class", medical colleges focus on the overall improvement of the connotation of discipline construction and personnel training, and focus on the cultivation of outstanding medical innovative talents to promote the construction of world-class medical colleges and first-class medical disciplines. Make overall arrangements, highlight key points, steadily promote the construction of major national translational medical science and technology infrastructure projects, and actively give play to the demonstration effect of the national innovation function platform in personnel training, platform operation and guarantee mechanism, and the output and enjoyment of scientific and technological achievements. Promote a new round of discipline layout optimization with the construction of peak plateau disciplines and high-level local universities. At present, there are 6 key disciplines (tertiary disciplines)/kloc-0, and 4 disciplines, including clinical disciplines, stomatology, basic disciplines and pharmacy (jointly established with the School of Pharmacy of Jiaotong University), have become national "double-class" construction disciplines, and the construction of high-level local universities in Shanghai has been fully launched.

The influence of the discipline continues to improve, and the number of clinical medicine ESI papers published by medical colleges ranks among the top 10 thousand in the world. According to the citation, eight disciplines continue to rank in ESI global ranking, among which four disciplines rank between 1‰. According to the subject evaluation results published by the Center for Degree and Postgraduate Education Development of the Ministry of Education in 20 17, our hospital ranks A+ in clinical medicine, B+ in stomatology, A- in basic medicine, B+ in nursing, and B- in public health and preventive medicine, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the top in China.

Focusing on the overall requirements of Shanghai's "four centers" and building a globally influential science and technology innovation center, we should connect with the direction of national science and technology system reform and development, continuously enhance the ability of scientific and technological innovation, and promote the transformation of achievements. The medical college system won 69 national science and technology achievement awards, including the highest national science and technology award 1, 5 national natural science awards, 8 national technology invention awards and 53 national science and technology progress awards. In 20 18, it won 647 national natural science funds, ranking first in China for nine consecutive years. In 20 17, 3,404 SCIE papers were published, including 274 CNS papers.
