Warm tips from laboratory doctors
1, what is fasting?
Fasting means fasting for 10- 12 hours in the morning, which means that medical examiners should keep their usual living habits and maintain a normal diet structure, and do not drink alcohol, coffee, strong tea, eat midnight snacks and have a good rest the night before blood drawing.
2. When is the best time for an empty stomach check-up?
The best time to take blood on an empty stomach for physical examination is 6:30-9:30 in the morning, and it is best not to exceed 10:00. If the fasting time is 12 hours, although it is still fasting blood, due to the influence of physiological endocrine hormones in the body, blood sugar and other indicators will change and cannot reflect the usual level, thus losing the significance of detection. Therefore, the fasting time is not as long as possible, and the physical examination in the morning should be sooner rather than later.
3. Can I drink water on an empty stomach?
Just because you are told to fast for at least 8 hours and water for more than 6 hours before physical examination doesn't mean you can't drink a mouthful of water. The meaning of "no water" can be understood as that they can't drink a lot of water, generally not more than 200ml, but they can only drink boiled water, not drinks, tea, coffee and so on. , so as not to affect the test results.
4. What items need strict fasting?
Fasting blood sugar, blood lipid, renal function (mainly blood urea and uric acid), liver function (mainly bilirubin and transaminase) and blood viscosity.
answer the question
Blood sugar test: Sometimes fasting blood sugar is false?
Some diseases (such as incomplete intestinal obstruction) may cause slow intestinal peristalsis and food to stay in the stomach. Such a physical examiner did not eat any food for 8 ~ 12 hours, which is not really fasting in essence, and the measured fasting blood glucose value is an illusion.
In addition, for some patients with abnormal liver function, the existence of hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, liver cancer and other diseases will cause the increase of liver glycogen reserve, which will eventually lead to a transient increase in blood sugar.
You just don't eat on an empty stomach?
Some medical examiners think that an empty stomach means not eating, or even not eating the dinner the day before, but the measured result is wrong.
Unreasonable diet before the test:
1. Inadvertently eating too much indigestible food the night before the physical examination, or eating it later than usual, these factors will lead to a high measured value;
2. Or knowing that the blood sugar will be measured the next morning, deliberately reducing the food intake the night before, resulting in the measured value being low.
What drugs cause blood sugar to rise?
Taking hormonal drugs, oral contraceptives (referring to women), etc. It may cause a transient increase in blood sugar, but it will gradually improve after stopping the drug.
Hormone test:
Choose the right time to avoid the influence of exogenous factors and maintain basal metabolism.
Dietary effects:
Eating it can cause blood sugar, phosphate and bilirubin to rise, ALT and potassium ions to rise obviously, and uric acid, protein, calcium ions and cholesterol to rise moderately to slightly. The degree of fat intake determines the level of triglycerides.
Fasting for more than 48 hours may cause bilirubin to increase by more than 2 times, while GLU, albumin, C3 and transferrin decrease.
Why do you want an empty stomach?
The reference range comes from the fact that chylothorax will appear in the blood within half an hour after eating on an empty stomach, and many detection items need to go through the colorimetric process, and chylothorax will seriously interfere with the detection results.
1, notes
Special population
Infants or other special groups (such as trauma patients), please call the clinical laboratory for advice on matters needing attention in blood collection: 0311-85917326.
2. Blood collection
1. Blood is drawn at 7 o'clock every morning. Please wait in line in the blood collection room in time.
2. Don't eat too greasy and high-protein food three days before blood drawing, avoid drinking a lot and keep the law of daily life.
3. Fasting for more than 8 hours the day before blood drawing, so as not to affect the detection of blood sugar, blood lipid and other indicators.
4. If you have a history of fainting, please explain in advance.
The following conditions may cause discomfort
3, urinary retention
1. Urine routine: random micturition in the middle section 10ml, at least 5ml, and submit for inspection within 1 hour after urine retention.
2. Morphological examination of urine cells: morning urine, 10ml, should be sent for inspection within 1 hour after urinary retention.
3. Rapid urine NGAL test, urine pregnancy test and urine iodine determination: 5ml or more.
4. For urine bacteria culture and drug sensitivity, please bring sterile bottles to the microbiology room on the third floor (please consult the microbiology room on the third floor for details).
4. Fecal retention
1. The stool taken from absorbent substances such as diapers, toilet paper and diapers affects the test results and is not suitable for use.
2. Use a spoon to scoop up a spoonful of purulent stool and other abnormal stools. After defecation 1 hour.
Inspection department 1
After decades of development and improvement, the Laboratory Department of the First Hospital of Hebei Medical University has become a comprehensive service-oriented department integrating medical teaching and scientific research. Professional technicians 17, including 4 senior professional technicians, 6 intermediate technicians and 4 junior technicians. There are 7 graduate students, and the rest have bachelor degree or above.
It has advanced instruments such as automatic blood routine analyzer, urine flow analyzer, automatic coagulation analyzer, drug concentration analyzer, flow cytometer and biochip analyzer. At present, we carry out routine blood, urine and stool tests, morphological examination of urine cells, rapid C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, drug concentration, flow cytometry, coagulation test, prenatal and postnatal care and so on 100.
Over the years, quality control has been carried out seriously, and every year I participated in the evaluation project of the Clinical Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health, and achieved excellent results. The department undertakes the teaching task of Hebei Medical University and teaches more than 40 students for internship and further study every year. Over the years, he has been exploring the latest fields and cutting-edge knowledge of experimental diagnosis and scientific research topics, undertaking projects of the Science and Technology Department and the Health Department, and writing hundreds of papers. The laboratory will continuously improve its professional level, improve its service attitude and ensure the quality of inspection. With superb technology, timely and accurate reports and numerous inspection items, we serve the clinic and patients.
