Who are the eight lay people?
The eight laymen are Han Yu, Liu Zongyuan, Ouyang Xiu, Su Xun, Su Shi, Su Zhe, Wang Anshi and Ceng Gong.

1, Han Yu

Han Yu was a writer, thinker and philosopher in the Tang Dynasty. Born in 768, he died in Heyang, Henan Province (now mengzhou city, Henan Province) in 824. He advocated the ancient prose movement in the Tang Dynasty, advocated the prose tradition in the pre-Qin and Han Dynasties, and opposed neat parallel prose.

2. Liu Zongyuan
