On Confucius and Mencius
Filial piety is a traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and people's interpretation of filial piety has never stopped since ancient times. As a sage in China, Confucius and Mencius have the same understanding of filial piety. Both of them mentioned that filial piety should give consideration to both material and spiritual aspects, which contained an unbearable understanding of the relationship between filial piety and parents. From the philosophical point of view, combined with social reality, this paper talks about some of my feelings about Confucius and Mencius' filial piety, hoping to warn myself and give readers some enlightenment. There are many interpretations of filial piety in ancient China. Chen Changzhi's engraving "Shuo Wen Jie Zi" in the Qing Dynasty reads: "Be kind to parents. From the old province, from the children. Old leaves in Zicheng. Call teaching. " Because the material resources of the society were extremely scarce in the past, people thought that filial piety meant "doing good to parents" materially, and being able to provide for adoptive parents materially was filial piety. American psychologist Maslow's hierarchy of needs divides human needs into five categories from high to low, namely, physiological needs, security needs, love and belonging, respect and self-realization. He put people's physiological needs in the first place. Physiological needs are the primary driving force to ensure the operation of our lives, but this material level demand is the lowest level demand. It can be seen that "good parents" are the lowest material filial piety. With the development of society, people's material living standards have been greatly improved, and the connotation of filial piety has been constantly enriched. Confucius and Mencius, the representative of Confucianism, extended the meaning of filial piety from the material level to the spiritual level, and combined filial piety with social governance. The filial piety advocated by Confucius and Mencius is an unbearable filial piety. "forbearance" was put forward by Mencius on the basis of his theory of good nature to serve his political ideas. "Everyone has the heart to bear it. The former king has a heart to bear, and Sri Lanka has a government to bear others. In order to bear the hearts of others, we can't bear the politics of others and rule the palm of the world. " The "unbearable heart" that Mencius said refers to the feeling that everyone has compassion for others. If the king can have compassion for the people, implement benevolent policies, and apply this "unbearable heart" to governing society, social harmony will be realized. In fact, "unbearable" can be applied not only to rulers, but also to ordinary individuals. When an individual has a blood relationship and a generation, the "unbearable" heart of the younger generation to the elders is called filial piety. This is an unbearable filial piety, and it is very likely to realize a beautiful society of "old people and old people, young people and young people". Source: Business situation
