What is chemistry? Chemistry is a science that studies the composition, structure, properties, changes and laws of changes of substances at the atomic and molecular levels. It plays an important role in our understanding and utilization of matter. The world is made of matter, and chemistry is one of the main ways and means for human beings to understand and transform the material world. It is a discipline with a long history and full of vitality. It is closely related to human progress and social development, and its achievement is an important symbol of social civilization.
Perhaps in some people's minds, chemistry is a symbol of evil. Perhaps in the eyes of others, chemistry is just a meaningless subject. Of course, in some people's minds, chemistry is a subject that can turn decay into magic. It can turn rubbish into treasure and ugliness into beauty. She is omnipotent and omnipresent. It is an angel.
As for why they have such an idea, I understand it this way. The reason why I think chemistry is a demon may be because of the dark side of chemistry I saw when I was a child. At this time, I unconsciously had a fear of chemistry, a normal scientific discipline, and often associated her with an evil wizard, thinking that chemistry was a shady conspiracy that could not be reasonably explained, and the feeling of fear came to me.
Admittedly, chemistry has its shortcomings, which I don't deny. For example, when we use sulfur-containing coal as fuel, it will produce acid mist, corrode the earth and threaten the life and health of living things. For example, if some household detergents are used as suicide tools, they will lose their original beautiful aura, and the original kind and pleasant appearance will become weird and ugly in an instant, emitting a stench, which is not what we want to see, and this is the same.
In this case, I don't think chemistry is so useless. Let's look at it from another angle. (The question is often like this: "Good peaks change everywhere, and secluded paths are lonely." In another mood, hell is heaven. Although the industrial pollution brought by the blind pursuit of economic benefits in a special historical period in the process of developing chemistry is the harm brought by chemistry, only by mastering chemical knowledge can we solve this problem with chemistry, so we can't treat it too unilaterally.
We might as well look further. The country needs chemistry to develop national defense and ensure our safety. Making steamed bread and the like requires chemistry, which is closest to us. I don't think we can clean all kinds of things without these detergents now, can we? What would our life be like without chemistry? I can't imagine how primitive it will be.
Since the Warring States Period, our chemical level in China has been far ahead. If we want to say that we are descendants of the Chinese people, please think about the rich chemical heritage left by our ancestors. Did we inherit it? Don't forget, we haven't won the Nobel Prize yet! This is the mission entrusted to us by history.
This is my understanding of chemistry.
