A paper on whether overseas students will return to China.
What happened to Dr. Sun Haigui?

Recently, I read many articles on the Internet about Dr. Sun who returned to China. Let's not talk about his experience. Let me talk about my views on Dr. Sun's experience after returning to China. Since the American financial crisis, many China people have started to return to China. Some people are unemployed, some people can't continue because of their identity, and some people regard this as a good opportunity to return to China to start a business. I think not many people in this army of returnees are really looking for opportunities to return to China to start businesses. Some people go back without even knowing the national conditions. As a result, there are many people who have no choice but to return to the United States again. Fortunately, these people who want to come back can come back, otherwise I don't know how many people will perform how many tragedies. Since China's reform and opening up, a large number of international students and researchers have begun to have the opportunity to study and work in the United States. For decades, they have settled in the United States and even in various countries in the world. There used to be a saying: "You can't go abroad until you get to America." Perhaps it is the influence of this sentence that people who go abroad are more enthusiastic about going to the United States. Just as many people in China don't understand the United States now, we didn't understand the United States at that time. When we first arrived in America, we didn't think it should be like this every day, nor should it be like this everywhere. Only those of us who still live here today have this experience. I remember there was a domestic TV series "Beijingers in new york" in the early 1990s, which caused great repercussions after it was released in China. Later, a book, China Women in Manhattan, was very popular among people who wanted to go abroad. Although they didn't want what was described there to be true, they were shocked by some of the plots there. I remember getting together with a friend from China a few years ago and talking about the years when we first came to the United States. One of the gentlemen said, "Who among us doesn't have Wang Qiming's experience in new york in Peking Man?" ? Which of us is more experienced than the China women in Manhattan? "I still remember this sentence. Some domestic friends may not understand this statement and say, why not come back earlier? This is another topic. It is precisely because overseas Chinese have had such an experience that when people gain a foothold overseas and settle down, it is equal to success. What these people have paid for today's life is by no means unimaginable for those who have no such experience. Because at that time, all the people who could go abroad were domestic talents. If they don't go abroad, they will live better than ordinary people, with houses, higher wages and various titles. At least they are all called intellectuals and should be envied by relatives and friends at home. If you want to find a partner, it is also a priority. It would be even more glorious if someone had several master's degrees at that time. When these people come to the United States, they should start with China women in Wang Qiming and Manhattan, which is really a great challenge for those who don't start here in China. Almost all of these people come because they have dreams. They know that women in Wang Qiming and China in Manhattan today are the presidents and bosses of a company in the United States tomorrow. Of course, most of their dreams are realized through their unremitting efforts and great efforts. At the same time, many people have been at the starting point of struggle in this process. Although some people are very talented, their living ability is relatively low, and there are many accidents when they are busy at home. I know a young man in his early thirties who came from China with his wife after graduation and got a job. Later, his wife gave birth to a child, and he was not very good at it. The young man had to go to work during the day and take care of his wife and children at night. One morning, he fell asleep on his way to work. When his wife wanted to take the children back to China, she didn't even have the money for a plane ticket. As a result, the young man's classmates and friends from China clubbed together to buy them a plane ticket back to China. There are not one or two such examples. If they don't go abroad, maybe today this young man is a professor at a university or a researcher at a research institute, and his wife and children don't need his care. Some parents and sisters at home will be willing to take care of him. The situation in China at that time was very different from today. After graduating from college, it was assigned by the package. If graduate students can choose to go to Beijing or Shanghai. Therefore, the pressure on people who went abroad at that time should be conceivable. When they are laid off in the United States and can't find a job after being laid off, their psychological endurance is once again facing a major test. At this time, these people are no longer young, and it is a challenge to ask them to start all over again or even lower some conditions. Many people have more than one child, many people have relatively large house loans that have not been repaid, and many people still bear some family expenses in China. At this time, some accounts that are invisible on weekdays have become huge debts for everyone. There is a young man in the city where I live. He has always had a good job. The former smaller villa is almost paid off. In the years when everyone changed houses, he also changed to a bigger villa. If nothing happens, the house will be paid off in a few years. There is nothing to say, but just after he bought a house, the last round of American economic crisis came, and he was unfortunately laid off by the company. His wife has just arrived from China. There are no working conditions at all, and he doesn't even have a chance to find another job, because he has to repay the mortgage every month. In desperation, he drove to the mountain and jumped down in the place he thought was the most beautiful, so he stayed in the United States forever. This example is not unique. People living in America have heard of such a thing, such a sad but helpless thing. The cruel reality actually exists in front of each of us. China today is not as good as it was in the past decades. It is true that China has risen rapidly without knowing it, but it is also accompanied by fierce competition, which is actually no less than that of the United States. The changes in some domestic systems have enabled many people to give full play to their talents, and the power of interpersonal relationships is deeply rooted. Therefore, it should be quite difficult, perhaps impossible, to participate in the construction and development of China halfway and get what they think is equal treatment. Many people say that Dr. Sun has depression or even mental illness, so which unit in China can accept him at this time? Someone wants to give him a salary of 3800 yuan a month, which seems like a lot, but he has three children and a wife to support. He has three children, so his wife must be over 40. It should be difficult to find a job at China's age. Considering that children have to go to school and adults have to eat and live, these thousands of dollars should not be too much. This is not because Dr. Sun is demanding. Of course, when you return to China, you need to find a job in China. China doesn't need to support your family, so he can't negotiate with others. This is exactly what some returnees can't adapt to when they go back, especially when Dr. Sun used to be an American talent. If we only look at a series of events after Dr. Sun returned to China, Dr. Sun's requirements are a little high, but it is reasonable to imagine Dr. Sun's experience and see that his psychology is unbearable. Therefore, it is not impossible for such a thing to happen without knowing the situation abroad and the current situation at home. The key is that those of us who still live overseas, as well as those family members who have overseas relatives in China, must know the situation. Before returning to China, we must make full ideological and spiritual preparations, and we need to start all over again. Family members with overseas relatives in China should also make full preparations. This home of returnees is not to dress up and return to China, but to rely on friends again. In my opinion, there are not many returnees who really need returnees. Many people see the bright side of China people today, but not their bitter side. You know, what we see is that they have gone through the same hardships as us. With today, if they want to keep their glory, they will continue fighting without breathing, and they will lose everything if they are not careful. Since we had so many struggles when we first came to America, why not do it again? In fact, many people on Wall Street are now driving taxis on the streets of new york and living a good life, aren't they? The computer engineer who works in the same company as my brother is now a taxi driver in California. My family asked me to pick him up when they went out or came back, and the family lived well. Therefore, it is better not to return to the sea for unnecessary returnees. Life is for yourself, not for others. As long as we can live together safely and healthily by our own efforts, this is the greatest success.
