In the second year of Zhangwu in Shu Han, Ma Chao was seriously ill. Because all his family members were killed by Cao Cao, only he and his cousin Ma Dai were left. Hundreds of people died in Cao Cao, which made Ma Chao unable to go home, and lamented that his wife and children were killed by Cao Cao, and he was ashamed of his family and became increasingly depressed. In the second year of Zhangwu, he died in February of 65438, at the age of 47, and was named Wei Hou.
In the official history, Ma Chao's father was held hostage by Cao Cao, but Ma Chao ignored his father's safety and forcibly sent troops, resulting in the killing of hundreds of people in his family. Being spurned by the people and labeled as an unfilial son, the depression is getting bigger and bigger. In addition, after Ma Chao took refuge in Liu Bei, he was pushed out by his colleagues because Ma Chao changed hands. For various reasons, Ma Chao was finally unhappy and died of illness.
Machao cemetery
There are two tombs of Ma Chao in China, one in Xindu District, Chengdu, Sichuan, and the other in Mianxian County, Shaanxi. The tomb of Ma Chao, located in Xindu, has been concerned by all previous dynasties. It is said that in the Ming Dynasty, officials such as Yang Shan, Sichuan provincial judge, Wang Jiude, Chengdu magistrate, and Shao Nianqi, Xindu magistrate, all erected monuments in front of Ma Chao's tomb and set up China tables beside Ma Chao's road.
During the reign of Yongzheng and Daoguang in the Qing Dynasty, the local magistrate still kept the habit of repairing cemeteries. 1985, xindu county people's government listed the tomb of ma Chao as an important cultural relic site in the county, and erected a monument to protect it. 1987 cultural relics survey in Xindu County, two stone tablets were moved to Gui Hu, Sheng 'an, and now they are located in the forest of steles in Gui Hu.
