Nanjing Institute of Foreign Military Science
China People's Liberation Army Military Academy was established in June 1950, with Liu Bocheng as the first president and political commissar, Zhong Qiguang as its training minister and Chen Shiju (later Chen Bojun) as the director of the political department.

Nanjing Military Academy 1969 closed. The relevant departments of the Army evolved into Nanjing Army Command College, the Admiralty became Nanjing Naval Command College, and the Air Force became Beijing Air Force Command College. Nanjing Military Academy is the highest military institution in China, and its functions later became Beijing National Defense University.

Famous people who studied in Nanjing Military Academy include Zhang Wannian, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Qin Jiwei, Minister of National Defense.

Nanjing Military Academy, founded 50 years ago, has trained a large number of military cadres for troop transportation and made great contributions to the revolutionary construction of the army. The Combat Department of Nanjing Military Academy was established in 1954, and all the students in the department are cadres at or above the corps level. All 52 people in the department were awarded the rank of general on 1955.
