The task force quickly determined the scope of investigation, focusing on visiting hospitals, clinics and taxi drivers. After two days of investigation, on the morning of May 17, significant progress was made in detecting the case. According to the clues obtained from the visit, the police of the task force found that Gao in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province was suspected of committing a major crime.

On May 18, the police of the task force rushed to Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. With the strong support of the police in Heilongjiang Province, the police of the task force arrested him near Daqing Railway Station in Heilongjiang Province on June 10. On June 14, the police of the task force brought Gao back to Linyi. At present, Gao was criminally detained by Linyi police on suspicion of intentional homicide, and the case is under further investigation.
