Linfen is a prefecture-level city and a sub-central city in Shanxi Province. It is located in the southwest of Shanxi Province, in the middle reaches of the Yellow River, by the Fenshui River, with Taiyue in the east and Lvliang in the west, with a vast and rich basin in the middle. Han Xin Ridge is adjacent to Jinzhong City and Lvliang City in the north, Changzhi City and Jincheng City in the east, Yuncheng City in the south and Shaanxi Province in the west. Linfen city is located in the temperate continental monsoon climate zone with four distinct seasons. In August 2000, with the approval of the State Council, Linfen City was established.
