The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea is the foundation of the Republic and the country. It played our national prestige. Marshal Peng once proudly said:
"In the past, the history that western powers put several cannons on the coast of China and sent 20,000 people to Eight-Nation Alliance to March straight into the capital of China is over." This is the historical end of the humiliation of the Chinese nation for a hundred years.
At that time, the national powers of the United States and China were far apart. 1950, the total industrial and agricultural output value of China was 57.4 billion yuan (calculated at the ratio of RMB to USD 2.5: 1 at that time, it was only equivalent to USD 22.96 billion), while the gross national product of the United States in that year was USD 284.8 billion, more than twice that of China.
The steel output of China is 606,000 tons, and that of the United States is 87.72 million tons, which is 1.44 times that of China. The comparison of weapons and equipment between the two sides is not at the same level.
At that time, there were serious "fear of beauty" and "worship of beauty" in China, and some people got cramps in their calves when they heard "Americans".
However, President Mao Zedong and the people of China did not buy it at all. They are not afraid of ghosts or souls. Resolutely make a decision to send troops to resist US aggression and aid Korea and defend the country.
With our "fried noodles and rifles", we defeated the American "airplane with guns" and punctured the prototype of the "paper tiger" of American imperialism.
Especially in the heroic and tragic battle of Changjin Lake, the 27th Army of our Volunteers met with the elite "Polar Bear Regiment" of the US Army in the emerging world. Our Volunteers carried forward the heroic and tenacious fighting style and annihilated the "Polar Bear Regiment" in one fell swoop, creating a brilliant example of annihilating an established regiment of the US Army.
This is unique in the history of American land warfare, and the US military should never forget it.
In this campaign, the 4th Company of the 239th Regiment, 80th Division of the 27th Army boldly intervened, attacked the polar bear regimental headquarters by night, killed Colonel McClane, destroyed an artillery battalion command post, killed more than 300 prisoners and seized 12 guns.
It also captured the 3 1 Tuantuan flag (the "Polar Bear Tuantuan"), which is one of the most precious exhibits in the China People's Revolutionary Military Museum.
After the war, the 27th Army awarded 4 companies the title of "Emerging Model Combat Company".
1950 In the spring, Colonel McClane (left), head of the Polar Bear Corps, and his successor Lieutenant Colonel Faith.
In 20 13, the U.S. Department of Defense finally confirmed that one of the remains was Lieutenant Colonel Faith who was killed in the Korean War through DNA identification and dental identification of the remains of American troops excavated in North Korea in 2004. He was the successor commander of the 3 1 regiment annihilated by the volunteers in the battle of Changjin Lake, and the US always thought that he was missing.
The battle of Changjin Lake gives us the enlightenment that only by daring to struggle can we dare to win. Although the enemy is strong and I am weak, I am not afraid; I will go through fire and water.
In those days-
Don't you know that going to the DPRK will interfere with our overall situation of healing the wounds of war and restoring peaceful production?
Don't we know that the strategic process of liberating Taiwan Province Province will be suspended?
I wonder if the enemy is strong and we are weak, will it pay a heavy price and sacrifice?
Don't you know that we will face the world's number one enemy and its allies for a long time from now on?
We all know this, but we just can't think of it. When the robber put a knife to his neck, we had to fight back.
At that time, President Mao Zedong weighed the pros and cons and made a strategic judgment, saying that "sending troops has great advantages, but not sending troops has great disadvantages".
19511On October 23rd, in his speech at the Third Session of the First Session in Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, he said:
"We don't want to invade any country, we just oppose imperialist aggression against us ... Now that the American aggressors are attacking us, we cannot but raise the banner of anti-aggression. This is completely necessary and completely just, and the people of the whole country have understood this necessity and justice. "
At present, in the face of the hegemonic provocation of the United States and the new "eight-nation alliance", we stand up and resist. This necessity and justice should be self-evident and should be supported and understood by the people of the whole country.
Today, when we talk about the demise of the US "polar bear regiment", we focus on novels, discuss history and talk about the present.
At that time, we can all overcome the "fear of beauty" and "worship of beauty". What are we afraid of now? It is nothing more than "strategic contempt and tactical attention."
We say "don't make trouble", that's our reason. When we say "we are absolutely not afraid of things, and once things come, we will win", that is our blood.
When we talk about "strengthening the modernization of the army", this is our strength, and when we talk about "getting the maximum strategic benefits at the least cost", this is our wisdom.
Only by combining rationality with blood and combining strength with strategy can we effectively defend our sovereignty and security.
Today, we relive the story of the fall of the polar bear corps, not "lying on the laurels", but "holding high the honors and preparing for new achievements".
If some American war maniacs wantonly challenge China's core strategic interests, then I'm afraid there will be more than one "polar bear regiment" flag in the China People's Revolutionary Military Museum.
Do American militants want to repeat the same mistakes? You should think carefully!
The demise of the American "polar bear regiment"
The 7th Infantry Division of the US Army 3 1 Enhanced Infantry Regiment is one of the most elite troops of the US Army. Because of his outstanding achievements in World War I, he was awarded the title of "Polar Bear Corps" by President Woodrow Wilson and the "Polar Bear Flag" by the President himself.
During the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, the "polar bear regiment" sent by the U.S. military to the eastern battlefield of Korea almost represented the strongest combat power, the strongest equipment support capability and the strongest self-confidence of the U.S. military in this combat area.
However, it was this domineering ace force that was defeated by the 27 th Army of our Volunteers. From the colonel to the soldier, no one escaped. Colonel McClane, the head of the regiment, was killed by volunteers.
The flag, which was once regarded as a symbol of honor by the US military and represented the soul of an army, was also captured by our volunteers, and the "Polar Bear Flag" has been collected in the China People's Revolutionary Military Museum.
Speaking of the failure of the US military, most of it should be attributed to the tragic and almost desperate melee tactics of the Volunteers. This persistence completely blinded the US military.
In the face of this backward equipment and desperate spirit "weapon" soldiers, the US military is at a loss and helpless.
The extinction of the "polar bear regiment" took place in the second campaign to resist US aggression and aid Korea.
Legend: From left, Armond, commander of the 10th Army, Barr, commander of the 7th Division, and McLean, head of the 3 1 regiment.
1950, 1 1 year 10. In October, the "United Nations Army" led by the US military, under the command of Commander-in-Chief MacArthur, launched the so-called "general offensive to end the Korean War before Christmas" in an attempt to expel our volunteers from North Korea in one fell swoop.
The US Army 10 regiment on the eastern front of the battlefield began to invade the north in three ways. Among them, the 7 th Division of American Infantry was on the road.
The 3rd1regiment of the Division was deployed to the east of Changjin Lake to protect the right wing of the 10 regiment. The regiment consists of three infantry battalions (one of which has never reached the emerging battlefield) and a tank company, with a staffing of 329 1 and 3 100 people actually participating in the war; Besides rifles, carbines and light and heavy machine guns, there are a large number of 60 or 90 rocket launchers, 57 recoilless guns, 60 mortars and 22 tanks.
At the same time, the regiment can also get air fire support from more than 8 attack aircraft of the aviation every day when fighting. At that time, our army had neither tanks nor planes, only a small number of small-caliber artillery and 60 rockets.
It can be said that the disparity between the enemy and our weapons and equipment is a world of difference.
Facing the enemy with such superior equipment, the 27th Army (commander Peng Deqing and political commissar Liu Haotian) with glorious historical tradition and fighting style braved the cold of -35 to advance into the war zone. In view of the advanced weapons and equipment of the enemy and the support of the air force, our army decided to adopt the traditional melee and night fighting tactics.
The main force of the army concealed into Liu Tanli and the area north of Li Xinxing.
The 80th Division of the Army suffered frostbite during the March, and lost more than 700 people in non-combat. However, regardless of fatigue and casualties, it continued to March for 200 miles with the main force and assembled in Tianyi Water, Wantianli, Tupley and Fengliu. At 24: 00 on the same day, the 80th Division strengthened four regiments of the 242nd Regiment of the 8 1 Division to the 32nd Regiment and 3rd Battalion of the 3rd1Regiment of the 7th Division of the US Army in Xinxinli.
The 80th Division stormed the American troops south of Li Xinxing with 1 regiment, preventing them from withdrawing aid from south to north, and fought fiercely until dawn on 28th, thus completing the encirclement of American troops in Xinghe Neidong, Xin Li.
During the battle, Zhuang Yuandong, instructor of the 4th Company of the 239th Regiment, led a platoon to Xinxing Dongshan, and found that about one platoon of American troops slept in several tents halfway up the mountain.
Instructor Zhuang immediately ordered the whole platoon to surround the enemy. However, a soldier accidentally stepped on a pile of cans and slipped. The noise awakened the enemy.
Instructor Zhuang saw this and immediately ordered the troops to fire. In an instant, more than 30 American troops were killed. Four companies led by company commander Li and two other platoons quickly penetrated from the flank.
When they entered the other side of the mountain, they heard the enemy in the house in front shouting at them. It turned out that the enemy thought that his family had misunderstood. The cry just pointed out the target to Company 4.
As a result, their light and heavy machine guns fired together, and the enemy immediately began to organize a counterattack. Instructor Zhuang and monitor Song died one after another. Li, the company commander crouching behind the stone, immediately changed his tactics: in addition to keeping a few people on the front to continue to contain the enemy, the main force quickly detoured.
At night, our combat team uses the terrain to jump forward. After a while, the two teams entered the shooting angle of the enemy's first independent house. They immediately threw grenades into the house from the doors and windows, and some even took the opportunity to sweep the guns in.
The enemy was blinded by our strict tactics. Some people surrendered, some fled, and some people lay on the ground pretending to be dead ... A few enemies who fought back were also wiped out by our commanders and soldiers.
In this way, several independent houses of the enemy were captured one after another. When collecting trophies, Li found that all the houses had telephones and radios, the walls were covered with battle maps, and there were unburned battle documents on the ground. An enemy colonel officer (later confirmed as the head of the regiment, McClane) also lay dead in the house.
So this is the enemy's regiment command post. Before cleaning the battlefield, Li Lianchang and others found an enemy gun field at the foot of the mountain. They broke into the enemy's gun field with lightning speed and destroyed an enemy artillery battalion command post. So far, the company has killed and injured more than 300 prisoners and seized 12 guns.
After the war, the 27th Army awarded the company the title of "Li Xinxing Combat Model Company".
When the 80th Division attacked the enemy head-on, the 242nd Regiment stopped the enemy reinforcements on the southeast highway south of Xinxing Lane 122 1 Highland. The regiment blew up four enemy tanks in succession, which made great contributions to the victory of the battle. After the war, the 27th Army awarded Ye Yongan the title of "anti-tank hero" for his outstanding performance in blocking operations, and gave Ye Yongan a collective first-class merit.
On the fourth day of the fierce battle, at 23: 00 on the 30th, the volunteers launched an attack on the emerging American army from six directions. 65438+February, 1 day dawn, the attacking troops broke into Xinxing Lane one after another.
In the battle, even though there were only two platoons left, the 3rd Company of the 240th Regiment was still required to attack three independent enemy houses. At the critical juncture of being attacked by enemy fire on three sides, the 3 rd company commanders fought fiercely with the enemy independently, blew up an enemy tank and took two houses and two bunkers.
At this time, there are only 16 people left in the company. They rushed to the third room under the leadership of Ma Rizhen, the deputy platoon leader. Finally won the third house. When the battalion commander led the follow-up troops to arrive, Wang De was the only soldier left in Company 3.
At this time, the enemy was also exhausted and began to retreat across the board. Our 80th Division, 239th Regiment and 240th Regiment followed closely. Sui, the squad leader of the 7 th and 5 th companies of the 240 th Regiment, lost two toes due to frostbite when he entered the DPRK.
However, he quietly wrapped his injured foot with a cloth, endured severe pain and led the class to detour 9.5 kilometers, cutting off the enemy's retreat and making great contributions to adowa's escape from the enemy.
Later, his right arm was injured again, and he still bravely jumped into the car to fight with the enemy. A total of more than 0/0 people were killed, 5 people were captured and 5 guns were surrendered. After the war, the five classes he led won the title of "Li Xinxing Combat Model Class", and he himself was awarded special merits by the headquarters of the Volunteers.
At dawn on the 2 nd, the battle ended. At this point, all 3 19 1 people of the "Polar Bear Corps" were annihilated by me in Xin Li Xinghe New Daley area. In the battle of Li Xinxing, the volunteers were brave and tenacious, with more than 4,300 casualties. They won the final victory with precious sacrifices.
When cleaning the battlefield, a soldier picked up a piece of blue cloth about one square meter, which was shaped and decorated like a flag. The soldier ignored it and took it as a bag.
When the battalion commander Bi Shuyang heard about it, he went to check and found that this package was originally the military flag of the enemy "Polar Bear Regiment".
The battalion commander handed it in as a trophy. Now this flag has been listed as a first-class protected cultural relic by the state, and it is collected in China People's Revolutionary Military Museum.
Capturing this flag marks the demise of the "polar bear regiment", and since then, this once arrogant "ace regiment" has disappeared from the sequence of the US military forever.
In this world war I, the American ace troops with world-class weapons and equipment and outstanding military achievements lost face.
A whole regiment was annihilated, and this ace unit experienced the "longest retreat" in history.
The collapse of the "polar bear regiment" also marks the disillusionment of a fairy tale-the US military is not invincible. (Participating in writing: Dong Xiaojun, Hao Jianjun)
