Why is the Yellow River called the Yellow River? Is it yellow?
The origin of the name Yellow Sea is closely related to the long-term disputes and frequent dynasty changes in the history of China.

In the early Qing Dynasty, the Yellow Sea was once called the "Eastern Ocean", and now the East China Sea is called the "Southern Ocean". At the end of Qing Dynasty, maps published after 1908 all used this name. In other words, the name of the Yellow Sea was officially used after the beginning of the 20th century.

The Yellow River is the most important birthplace of Chinese civilization. People in China call it "Mother River". Every year,1600 million tons of sediment is produced, of which1200 million tons flows into the sea, and the remaining 400 million tons remain in the lower reaches of the Yellow River for many years, forming an alluvial plain, which is beneficial to planting.

Extended data basin climate

The Yellow River basin has a vast territory, numerous mountains, great disparity in height difference between east and west, and great differences in landforms in different regions. Because the basin is located in the mid-latitude zone, the situation affected by atmospheric circulation and monsoon circulation is more complicated. Therefore, the climate in different areas of the basin is significantly different, and the annual and seasonal changes of climate elements are great. The basin climate has the following main characteristics.

1. There is plenty of sunshine and strong solar radiation;

Second, there are large seasonal differences and wide temperature differences;

Third, the precipitation is concentrated and unevenly distributed, which changes greatly during the year;

Fourth, low humidity and large evaporation;

Fifth, hail, sandstorm and sand blowing are more;

Sixth, the frost-free period is short.
