Resume of Huawei Ding Jianxin
In the era of mobile internet, mobile phone business, as a sideline, has become Huawei's most profitable business, accounting for more than half. This is because Huawei's mobile phone sales have increased year by year, once surpassing Samsung to become the world's number one.

After entering the 5G era, Huawei has made great strides and invested hundreds of billions of R&D funds every year. With the advantage of 5G, Huawei successfully defeated Apple and became the most popular high-end mobile phone brand in China. In the domestic mobile phone market, the share of mobile phones once exceeded 50%. Unexpectedly, however, just as Huawei was developing rapidly, the United States suddenly revised the rules. Huawei suffered a huge blow in the mobile phone business and had to sell glory brand mobile phones, shrink the front line and change the strategic direction.

As we all know, the United States is actually afraid of Huawei's leading position in 5G technology and suppresses mobile phones. It is purely to cut off Huawei's cash flow and make Huawei's investment in R&D "stretched", thus further attacking high-tech enterprises in China.

In the 3G and 4G era, domestic patent technology is basically in a blank state. Qualcomm and other foreign technology companies have mastered a large number of 3/4G network patents, and they use these patents to charge high patent fees to smartphone manufacturers. Qualcomm's patent revenue accounts for more than 50% of the total annual revenue, which can be said to be "lying down to earn".

In the 5G era, this situation of being monopolized by foreign countries will change. Guo Fulin, president of Huawei's international media affairs, said that by the end of 2020, Huawei had more than 654.38 million patents worldwide, of which more than 90% were invention patents. In terms of the number of 5G patents, Huawei ranks first in the world and is far ahead in number. So that Huawei can't be avoided in the formulation of 5G network standards, which they can't tolerate and fear.

In the case that the mobile phone business has been hit hard, Huawei began to change its thinking and focus on developing OS and HMS services in HarmonyOS system, so as to obtain revenue and profits through ecological services. In April this year, ordinary consumers will be able to use the HarmonyOS system. And learn from Qualcomm and collect royalties from smartphone manufacturers.

Now Huawei is officially waving a 5G patent stick. Ding Jianxin, head of Huawei's intellectual property department, said at the press conference of "White Paper on Innovation and Intellectual Property in 2020" that Huawei will start charging patent fees for 5G patents from 20021,with a maximum charge of $2.50 per mobile phone.

The data shows that in 2020, the global smartphone shipments will be 65.438+0.24 billion units, and the sales of 5G mobile phones will increase substantially. In 2065.438+09, the global shipment was only 20 million units, and will reach 300 million units in 2020. With the advent of the 5G era, the shipments of 5G mobile phones will rise sharply, even replacing 3G and 4G mobile phones.

According to the patent fee of $2.5 per set, the annual patent income is as high as $3 billion, equivalent to more than RMB 20 billion. As mobile phone manufacturers, Samsung and Apple contributed almost half of the patent revenue. Apple, in particular, has never been able to develop its own 5G baseband.

Of course, behind the success is huge investment and long-term persistence. In 2020, Huawei has more than 654.38+million people engaged in research and development, accounting for 53% of the total number. R&D expenditure in 20 19 years13,269.9 billion yuan, ranking first in China and third in the world. In the past ten years, the accumulated R&D expenditure has exceeded 600 billion yuan.
