Zhao Yuying, a native of Shangyuan Village in Yixing, was born in Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. He once made cans in the studio of Yang Pengnian, a famous purple sand artist, and later assisted Yang Pengnian and Yang Fengnian in making artificial cans. According to his age, Zhao Yuying should be Yang Fengnian's other disciples, but according to his craft, he and Yang Pengnian and Yang Fengnian are brothers and sisters. Zhao Yuying learned from Yang Fengnian's pot-making style, and is also one of the artists who are good at high relief works. At the end of the Qing Dynasty and the beginning of the Republic of China, Zhao Songting, a teapot artist, rebuilt the Dragon Kiln and hired Shao Buyun, Chu Ming, Pan and other famous artists to make antique pots. The English teapot of Zhao Yu, a purple sand artist of Qing Daoguang, is also imitated. Since there were imitations of Zhao Yuying purple clay pots in the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, most people now mistakenly think that Zhao Yuying was a purple clay artist in the Republic of China.
The picture shows Yang Fengnian and Zhao Yuying jointly making a three-legged purple sand gourd pot with enamel glaze.
Another artist of the same name, Zhao Yuying, is a modern assistant arts and crafts artist.
