Among these groups collectively called "founding generals", at present, marshals, generals, generals and lieutenant generals have all passed away, and only a dozen founding generals are alive.

Many founding generals came from Pingjiang, Zhang zhen. Pingjiang, one of the four general counties in China, is an old revolutionary base area. There have been major revolutionary historical events, such as the Autumn Harvest Uprising, the March to seize the city, the Pingjiang Uprising and the Pingjiang Massacre, which sacrificed 250,000 outstanding sons and daughters for the China Revolution. At present, there are 2 100 registered revolutionary martyrs, accounting for one fifth of the total number of martyrs in Hunan province, and 52 founding generals of the Republic have emerged from here.
