Huang is the younger brother of the band's late lead singer and guitarist, and also the bass player of the Hong Kong rock band Beyond. His native place is Taishan City, Guangdong Province. Huang formed a band with in his early years, but after Li left Beyond, he joined the band at the end of 1983. After the accidental death, Beyond members such as Huang continued to develop in the name of the band; After Beyond was dissolved, Huang started his own music career. In 2002, a group of young musicians Picasso Horses signed a contract with Hong Kong Universal Records to release a solo album and promote a new band.
