2. When I was a child, I was fascinated by flowers, plants, insects and birds in the outdoor nature. He was determined to study insects when he was less than 19 years old. Later, he obtained a master's degree and a doctor's degree in natural science through self-study.
3. 1880, he bought an old house on a wasteland near a rural town in Serignan with a small sum of money he had saved, and the plan to further study live insects will soon become a reality. He was in high spirits and gave this residence a funny nickname-Waste Stone Garden in the local Provencal language. Year after year, he guarded his beloved barren stone garden, tirelessly engaged in unique entomology research, and wrote his labor achievements into volumes of entomology works.
In this way, he spent the rest of his life in loneliness, happiness, poverty and peace for 35 years.
