Katherine Tai (1974—), a Chinese-American lawyer and politician, was born in Connecticut, USA, with a ancestral home in Funing, Yancheng, Jiangsu, China, and is currently the US Trade Representative. She grew up in Washington, D.C., and her parents are from Taiwan Province Province, China. She is fluent in Chinese.
1996- 1998, Dai Qi taught English at Sun Yat-sen University, China, as a member of Yale University and China. After graduating from college, he worked as a lawyer in several law firms and later joined the Maryland District Court.
