School of Mechanical and Power Engineering developed from the Department of Chemical Machinery, which was established in 1958. At present, there are three undergraduate majors in process equipment and control engineering, mechanical engineering, automation and vehicle engineering, doctoral programs in power engineering and engineering thermophysics (chemical process machinery, engineering thermophysics, fluid machinery and engineering, power machinery, thermal energy engineering, refrigeration and cryogenic engineering), master programs in mechanical engineering (mechanical design and theory, mechanical manufacturing and automation, electromechanical integration engineering and vehicle engineering), and postdoctoral mobile stations in power engineering and engineering thermophysics. 1978, the first batch of graduate students of chemical process machinery were enrolled, and it was one of the earliest four master programs of chemical process machinery in China (Zhejiang University, East China Institute of Chemical Technology, Dalian University of Technology, Nanjing Institute of Chemical Technology). 1984 was approved by the State Council Academic Degrees Committee and became one of the first three authorized sites for doctoral degrees in chemical process machinery in China (Zhejiang University, Huahua and Nanhua). In 2003, the postdoctoral mobile station of the first-class discipline of power engineering and engineering thermophysics was established with the approval of the Ministry of Personnel. The specialty of process equipment and control engineering is the construction point of brand specialty and national characteristic specialty in Jiangsu Province, while the specialty of mechanical engineering and automation is the characteristic specialty in Jiangsu Province. The discipline of chemical process machinery is the training point of key disciplines in Jiangsu Province and national key disciplines, and it is also the demonstration base for joint training of graduate students in Industry-University-Research, Jiangsu Province.
