Southwest Jiaotong University is located in Chengdu, which is known as the land of abundance. It is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education jointly established by the Ministry of Education, China Railway Corporation (formerly the Ministry of Railways), Sichuan Province and Chengdu. Southwest Jiaotong University was founded in 1896, formerly known as Shanhaiguan Beiyang Railway Institute. It is the first engineering institution in China, the birthplace of higher education in civil engineering, traffic engineering and mining and metallurgy engineering in China, and one of the two earliest sources of Jiaotong University. It is well-known at home and abroad as "Tangshan Jiaotong University" and "Tangyuan" and is known as "Cornell of the East".
Second, Beijing Jiaotong University
Beijing Jiaotong University, located in Beijing, is the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform". Beijing Jiaotong University is the first batch of universities in China to award doctoral and master's degrees. It is also the first batch of universities to enter the national "2 1 1 Project", "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Plan" and "985 Engineering Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" projects. It is one of 56 universities with graduate schools in China.
Third, Central South University Railway College (formerly Changsha Railway College)
Changsha Railway Institute, formerly known as Central South Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture established by 1953, was established by 1960 on the basis of some established departments and teaching and research offices, and is affiliated to the Ministry of Railways. Central South Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering was formed by merging the civil engineering majors of Wuhan University, Hunan University, Nanchang University and Guangxi University with the railway majors of Sichuan University, Yunnan University and South China University of Technology during the adjustment of departments 1953. In the early days of the hospital, the railway had two departments: bridge, tunnel and railway construction. Added 1956 railway transportation department. In addition, there are specialized courses such as railway construction, railway survey and design, surveying and bridge structure.
4. Tongji University (formerly merged with Shanghai Railway Institute)
The former Shanghai Railway Institute merged with Shanghai Railway Medical College in May 1995 to form Shanghai Railway University, and merged with Tongji University in April 2000 to form a new Tongji University. The former Shanghai Railway University (Headquarters) became the Huxi Campus of Tongji University.
5. Lanzhou Jiaotong University
Lanzhou Railway Institute was transferred to Gansu Province by the Ministry of Railways in 2000. Founded in 1958, it was established by Tangshan Railway Institute (now Southwest Jiaotong University) and Beijing Railway Institute (now Beijing Jiaotong University) and moved to Lanzhou. After 50 years of construction and development, the school has now become a teaching and research university with coordinated development of multiple disciplines and distinctive school-running characteristics. The school campus covers an area of 1566 mu, with two campuses and 1 university science park, forming a pattern of one school and three districts.
