Wuhan University of Technology is a multi-disciplinary national key university featuring materials science and engineering, focusing on engineering, based on science, integrating science, engineering, management, economics and literature, and entering the national "2 1 1 engineering" construction ranks.

Wuhan University of Technology is located in Mafangshan, Wuchang, on the south bank of the Yangtze River, covering an area of nearly 1,000 mu, near the South Lake, with a beautiful environment. The school was formerly known as Beijing Institute of Architecture and Technology, formerly known as Northeast Military Industry College and Senior Cadre School of Ministry of Construction, Zhongnan Architectural Engineering School, formerly known as Wuchang Advanced Industrial School and Wuhan Civil Engineering School. The two schools merged in Wuhan on 197 1 and were renamed Hubei Institute of Architecture and Technology. 1978 was renamed Wuhan Institute of Building Materials Industry; 1985 was renamed Wuhan University of Technology. Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 60,000 ordinary college students and more than 0,000 graduate students, and has achieved a lot of scientific research results. It is an important teaching and research base for building materials, construction industry and other relevant departments of the national economy.

After more than 50 years of inheritance and continuous development, by 1999, Wuhan University of Technology has established 32 undergraduate majors, including School of Materials Science and Engineering, School of Civil Engineering and Architecture, School of Mechanical and Electronic Science and Engineering, School of Business Administration, Department of Computer Science, Department of Resources and Environmental Engineering, Department of Mathematical Physics, Department of Engineering Mechanics (Department of Structural Engineering), Department of Foreign Languages and Department of Physical Education. In addition to recruiting graduate students, the school also has Wuhan University of Technology in Beijing and graduate department. Approved by the State Education Commission, the school also has correspondence audio-visual education college and adult education college of Wuhan University of Technology. The school has a building area of over 300,000 square meters, and the library has 820,000 books. The school has more than 2,400 faculty members, including researchers 1300, and more than 600 associate professors. The school has nearly 10000 full-time students, including more than 7000 general education students and more than 600 doctoral and master students. There are more than 5,000 other adult students in the school, which are distributed all over the country.

Wuhan University of Technology is one of the first universities in China with the right to confer doctoral and master's degrees, with 26 doctoral and master's degree authorization points, 7 national and provincial key disciplines, and postdoctoral mobile stations 1 unit. We will build five national or provincial high-level interdisciplinary research and teaching bases, including the State Key Laboratory of New Materials Composite Technology, the National Industrial Experimental Base of Optical Fiber Sensing Technology, the Materials Research and Testing Center, the Silicate Engineering Research Center and the Biomaterials Engineering Technology Research Center. In addition, the school has established 20 foreign academic and research design institutes, such as publishing houses and design institutes, and also established the board of directors of Wuhan University of Technology, which is mainly composed of large and medium-sized enterprises and research design institutes.

Wuhan University of Technology has extensive international and domestic contacts, and dozens of well-known scholars at home and abroad are part-time or honorary professors in our school. The school has established long-term inter-school relations with Kanagawa University in Japan and New Jersey Institute of Technology in the United States. It has established academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation with research institutions in more than 20 countries, including Russia, the United States, Japan and Australia. The school employs long-term and short-term foreign teachers every year, sends visiting scholars and graduate students every year, and sends teachers to participate in relevant international and domestic academic activities.

On May 27th, 2000, Wuhan University of Technology merged with Wuhan Jiaotong University and Wuhan Automobile Institute to form Wuhan University of Technology. In the same year, Management Cadre College of State Building Materials Bureau (Wuhan University of Technology, graduate department, Beijing) was merged into Beijing University of Technology.
