Enrollment and Employment of School of Ship, Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University
Since 2004, college undergraduates have enrolled students on a big platform: except architecture, all other majors have enrolled marine engineering (or civil engineering). Starting from the fourth semester, students can choose a major (direction) other than architecture and enter professional study. College graduates are very popular with employers. In recent three years, the average demand ratio was 4: 1 (the number of jobs required/the total number of graduates), and the average employment rate was 99%. They were employed by the State Council General Office, China Institute of Building Research, ZTE, CSSC and other state organs, research institutes, state-owned enterprises, private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises, and made their own achievements in their respective posts. The college further strengthens employment guidance, provides thoughtful and meticulous employment guidance and consultation for students, and constantly expands new employment channels. In the 20 1 1 academic year, there were 260 undergraduates and 83 postgraduates, and the employment rates reached 98% and 100% respectively, of which 58% were employed in key national industries and enterprises.
