Over the years, the Middle East Institute has formed the policy of "combining research status with research history, focusing on contemporary Middle East issues and examining contemporary issues from a historical perspective". The main research directions of the Middle East Institute are the history of Middle East civilization, contemporary Middle East politics and international relations, religious history and South Asian studies, and it is at the leading level in the domestic field of Middle East history research. From 2000/KLOC-0 to 2006, the Institute has obtained 8 national scientific research projects, including 5 national social science fund projects, 3 projects of the Ministry of Education, 9 provincial social science planning projects and 9 projects of the Provincial Education Department. Among them, "Research on Contemporary Middle East Issues and China's Strategic Countermeasures" is a major project of the National Social Science Fund in 2004, and it is also the only major project of the National Social Science Fund in the western region this year.
