Shaanxi University of Science and Technology (Shaanxi University of Science and Technology &; Technology), founded in 1958, located in Xi, Shaanxi Province, is the only multi-disciplinary university in western China featuring light industry.
The school is the first light industry institution of higher learning in People's Republic of China (PRC). 1958 was founded in Beijing, formerly known as Beijing Institute of Light Industry. 1970 moved to Xianyang, Shaanxi, and changed its name to Northwest Institute of Light Industry. 1978 became a national key institution of higher learning. 1998 was transferred to Shaanxi Province in 2002 and renamed Shaanxi University of Science and Technology.
